Just bought NV, endless loading screen

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 2:21 am

Hi, I just bought Fallout New Vegas yesterday and it just finished downloading and installing via Steam. When I try to start a new game I get the "endless loading screen". I've googled the problem and searched the forums. Unfortunately every response to "fix" this problem is to load a previous saved game. As I mentioned, I just bought the game yesterday and this is my first time playing it so I don't have any previous saved games to load.

Any way to fix this aside from a complete re-install of FNV? My campus internet is a joke and I get anywhere from 20 kb/s to 100 kb/s download speed so I'd really like to avoid having to do that...

Update: Restarted my laptop and I'm currently installing an update for FNV via Steam. Odd that it didn't prompt me for the update before playing the game... I'll report back if I'm still getting the perma-loading screen.

DO you have asus gamer osd installed? If you do uninstall.

Have you tried simply verifying the game cache?

Anything show up in your event viewer?

Have you tried a clean boot?
clean boot link:

Not sure about msi afterburner. Could try removing it if it isnt too much of a hassle.

The update finished and I'm finally playing!

Thanks for your time. I'll definitely be back here if I run in to any more issues.
