Been looking forward to joining the Imperial Legion, but my

Ok, I have yet to actually join the Legion, but my friend, who has climbed up their ranks a little bit is pretty annoyed because it doesn't seem to influence anything, especially your standing in Legion. He is still addressed as citizen, told to move along etc etc. Where the hell is the acknowledgement? If I become the highest ranking officer, I expect to be addressed by rank at the very least, even the possibility of recruiting your troopers as followers would be appreciated. I don't know if this is how it is, but he says it changes nothing and is the same as doing quests like any other, that nothing seems to count. Why, Bethesda do you strip the charm from joining such a major power? The Legion should be the ultimate honour should you become the ranking officer. Sorry you Stormcloaks, but you will be squashed :). hehe.

This is present with other guilds as well i think. from what others have said, some mages in the college of winterhold still address you as a new mage or whatever even after you've completed the whole questline.

Seems like a very poor choice from Bethesda. Guards say things at random based on your skills. If you have a steel sword, they mention it etc. Why the hell did they fail to bother to implement an actively changing disposition towards your character in regards to relationship status with guilds and legion/stormcloaks?

There actually are quite a few changes that take place as a result of completing the Legion's story line, it's just that in some sense you have to actually look for them. I don't want to spoil anything here but by ending the civil war you change the political landscape in Skyrim pretty significantly. You are right about NPC commentary however, I find that it remains pretty static, both in the random statements and what you can ask in dialogue. I don't know if this is an absolute immersion breaker, but it certainly doesn't help. Perhaps Bethesda ran out of time and couldn't properly customize such things?

At any rate doing the Legion quest line is a fine diversion, you'll just have to pay attention to what you're doing.

I was a little disappointed in that whole storyline in general. Too fast, too easy, and there was really no... I guess... down side to just throwing bodies at the forts. One named NPC, and he was apparently flagged essential. The rest were no name nobodies and it didn't bother me in the least to watch them die and loot their corpses. Top it all off with basically never seeing Rikke again, and being told "thanks for the help but you can go back to wandering now" and the whole thing just didn't seem worth it. I only joined them to see Elisef put on the throne, and unless I missed something... That didn't happen.

It just feels like there was something missing... Like a point.

Maybe you're my friend 'cause I've been complaining about that to everyone I could. There's very little reaction to you being in the Legion from anyone. Your fellow legates, few as they are, will acknowledge you as one but no other guards or soldiers ever do. Only a handful of NPCs bother to note that the civil war is over and of those only a couple recognize you were a big part of it. I found the ending back at Solitude also underwhelming but would've been good enough if other NPCs had more reactions. The least they could've done was update Tullius and Rikke themselves to recognize that the war is over, they continue to talk about it as if it's still going on.

The storyline itself I won't complain about. Wasn't perfect and there's a few things I could offer pointed criticism about but it was pretty cool all in all.

Stormcloaks probably act the same way, as does every guild in this game.

It's really frustrating. I expected better AI - not saying every single NPC needs to recognize my accomplishments, but if I'm the master of the Thieves Guild, then certainly a flag should be set so that the other NPCs in the Ragged Flagon stop talking to me like I'm a raw recruit.

Seems so simple to fix. Not holding my breath of course, but it's frustrating.

I really don't expect Bethesda will patch this. We can probably expect fixes only, not changes, sadly.

Another screw up along these lines of reference is the fact that I am refered to as a guy and sometimes a girl, As my character is a female.

NPCs being unaware of your status and history, and making comments to prove it, seems like a game-wide problem.

One NPC accompanied me on a mission and died. When I see his family members now, they first say something like "I hate you!" and then seconds later will say something cheery like "Bye! Be Careful!"

In another place I've been imprisoned for a serious crime but then released and pardoned. Still the guards are yelling at me each time I walk past "Halt! Stand fast for arrest" even though they won't do anything and if I actually talk to them they'll act like nothing is going on.

I try to treat it as just one more glitch to try to overlook as I enjoy all the fun parts.

What was it they said?

"Get that THING away from me!"

I know the SC quests they give you a "name" like bone breaker (not really just example) and some people call you that.

I have had guards comment on my DB character, "psst, I know what you are! Hail Sithis), and the thief armor as well.

Oblivion had the same problems, pretty much, so it seems Bethesda didn't bother to look at the game World. They just want us to have fun and fill in the blanks ourselves, sadly.

Even as a dragonborn, walking around in towns, guards you pass will say something like, "Just because you can throw a few spells around, .......," I mean I'm saving your rearend/town/city etc. A little more respect would be welcome lol.

Even in that big MMO with 12 million subscribers, on both the horde and alliance side there were several instances where you got "promoted," once or twice called "Commander," but never anything else. And NPCs still treated you like cow dung lol.

It's almost if the story writers decided to go there a little bit, but then realized they didn't know where to take that story, so it was dropped.

It's ridiculous that the game hasn't got this simple feature. It will never be patched, because it would require the voice actors re-recording! We're screwed, sadly.
