Weird error message

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 10:15 am

I made a plugin which's esp is only dependend on MW.esm and Tribunal.esm. When I try to start the game it crashes with an error message telling me bm_snowflakes mesh is missing, wtf? Even if I check Bloodmoon as well, error persists. Anybody ever had this issue?

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/781497-vistawindows-7-problems/page__view__findpost__p__11345653, probably not even related to mods.

Thx, I will try it that way. Freakin' win7 drives me nuts. Even asks me for admin rights for every single nif or texture i wannna insert into the data files folder. This is a major fun killer! :(

Just install Morrowind out of Program Files... or turn off your UAC.

It's possible to resolve admin problems without turning off UAC. Log in as an admin, right click the Morrowind folder, click Properties, Security tab, Edit.. button. There should be a list of user groups and a list of permissions. Select the "Users" group in the top half and give them "Full Control" in the bottom half. This should let anything write to the Morrowind folder and subfolders.

Microsoft could have implemented the whole thing better, like a UAC virtualization exception list available to administrators.

Thx guys, that fixed the issues. Got some new ones though, since I played around with UAC. It seems like it made some global changes to my system, involving other programs and applications. For example my Blender user default settings were suddenly gone and most recent files list got emptied. Also when I make screenshots ingame now, I cannot find them under the default path. I have to make a full windows search and they finally are found under same path, which I was browsing to before. Does the changing of the UAC level make certain data invisible?

I'm really confused about win 7, freakin' steam guys can easily overwrite an .exe that resides on my private desktop and my own pc asks me "the boss" for admin rights, wtf is this. If win 7 was my dog, I'd taken it around the next corner and beaten it to death, lol! :P
