um, did I get married? (a night to remember)

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 2:35 pm

i just completed the quest A Night To Remember and I'm still confused about what happened. I checked the wiki, and I apparently skipped part of the mission but was still able to complete it. Here's what happened to me: I walked into the Bannerred (?) Mane in Whiterun and ran into a guy named Sam Something and he challenged me to a drinking contest. I beat him, and then blacked out. I woke up in Markarth where the priestess or whatever told me that I was there with sam wreaking havoc and such and she told me clean up. I tried to persuade and intimidate but my speech is low so I couldn't , so i just paid her off. I'm not sure, but I think when I asked her where sam was she told me to go to Rorikstead. I left Markarth, (i also ran into Eltrys and that incident before leaving but I don't think that that has anything to do with the quest). I didn't got to Rorikstead cause I was in the middle of something in Whiterun when I ran into Sam so I went back there. After I was done, I talked to Ysolda for some reason and she mentioned the night I got drunk, talking about a wedding ring. Apparently, if I went to Rorikstead an NPC would have lead me to Ysolda anyway, so I just skipped that part unitentionally. And also, apparently, I got married. So, I finished the quest after that (persuaded Ysolda, cleared Morvunskar, got the staff thing from senguine (?) ) Then I remembered that Ysolda had mentioned that I got married in Witchmist Grove. I went there, and found a hargraven named Moira. So...... am i married to a [censored] hargraven? I tried talking to her but nothing happens. Did I miss something? Was there some kinda bug? Or am i actually married to a hargraven? What do I do now? I don't really understand how the concept of marriage works in Skyrim.

You didn't. It was just to add to part of the quest, you aren't officially married.

In fact, you're SUPPOSED to kill your 'fiance' if you don't persuade/bribe Ysolda.

Dude, seriously, put spoilers in your title.

Yes you proposed to a hagraven, but you didn't do it voluntary. It was the alcohol that did it. You were too drunk to remember what you did.
I'm not sure you ever got to the married part. Because it requires a ceremony, which I don't think any priest would perform for a hagraven.

Actually you were supposed to go retrieve the ring for Ysolda instead of persuading her. If you didn't persuade Ysolda and went to retrieve the ring, going to Witchmist Grove will trigger a dialogue with the hagraven.

She'll mention something about being glad to see you back.
You then say you would like the ring back.
Then she'll get jealous and accuse you of being interested in another hagraven due to her black feathers, and attack you.

It's time Beth does Sanguine's Realm. Who wouldn't want to make that?

Arrrgh...why does it give us the option to persuade or pay her off if it breaks this aspect of the quest?!

I started the quest, ignored it, ran into the hagraven and apparently skipped 95% of the quest by talking to her...

THAT. hahaha. So, is there no way that I can trigger that dialogue scene? I tried talking to Ysloda again, but nothing. Anyway, thanks everybody for clearing that up. And I"m sorry about the spoilers, I didn't realize.

Yes. Yes, you did miss something. You missed the entire point of the quest! You got drunk, did a bunch of silly and humorous things, then woke up not remembering any of it. It's a quest that's meant to be humorous when you find out all of the wild and crazy things you did while you were wasted.

I did the quest in the same order as the OP.

However long after clearing Morvunskar, I'm still learning about new things I supposedly did while blacked out. I met an interesting blue Argonian who told me another story and claimed I owed him some ridiculous sum like 10,000 gold

Mhmmm...those sly Argonians...

To make it more hilarious they should have made it a 50,000septim sum. Hangover anyone?

Yeah, i got that, i'm not an idiot. But what I'm talking about is how I missed the dialogue scene with Moira. So I did miss that. But not what you said...... yeah.

By the way, i've got an "owned" bed in my house (breezehome) in Whiterun. Does this have anything to do with this quest? (you know, because I'm "married.")

Someone can correct me if i'm wrong but i'm pretty sure the other bed in breezehome is for your companion Lydia to use.
