The Ebony Blade

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 5:19 pm

Okay so I know a lot of people have questions about this weapon and I've learned a fair bit about it so I thought I'd post some information. First of all the blade is bugged and recieves bonuses from the +% to one-handed enchantment instead of the two-handed, also it falls off your weapons racks when you leave and re-enter your home and if you leave for too long it can disappear entirely or so I've heard. Also empowering the blade increases the amount of life stolen by the enchantment the base damage of the blade does not increase. I've heard it takes a grand total of killing 10 people whom you have a relationship with to empower the blade and each time you kill two people the lady whispers to you and something different each time.

It cannot be upgraded via smithing a shame though it is quite powerful as it is, but this means if you smith you'll always be able to create a more powerful weapon since you can get weapons up to ridiculously high damage amounts and armour defense too rendering you the ability to be invincible to one-hit everything on master difficulty and be invincible, so if you decide you don't want to be godlike then this is always a weapon choice, well it will be when they fix the bug where it benefits from one-handed enchantments... also someone told me it benefits from the one handed perks as well but still benefits from the two-handed skill as it goes up, I'm not at all certain about this but it could be true.

I'm playing a dual wielder at the moment and I've been using this weapon most of the time since my one-handers are boringly powerful and this weapon benefits from the one-handed enchants so I can still use it effectively, plus it's awesome and fun and increases my two-handed skill so I'll continue levelling and what not. In conclusion, cool but bugged weapon, hopefully we'll see a fix in the near future so I can make a two-handed user and use this weapon full time! I hope this answers some people's questions and if anyone has anything to add or corrections to make then I welcome them.

I think it's unfair that you cannot improve daedric artifacts. If you could, they would be on par or ever better than items that you can smith, as it should be.

It's these little things that make the game not fun. Loot is important.

I agree with this, I wish you could improve them. It's always up to the person to consider moderation as to not become so powerful that enemies become obsolete. The minute I could enchant my armour with +% to one-handed I did and from then on the game has become incredibly easy, and that was at like level 15. So on my next playthrough I will be sure to not make myself too powerful so there will still be some challenge left in the game. Though there are some daedric artifacts you CAN improve, Volendrung is one.

There ya go.

I don't understand this?

I'm pissed I have to start the MQ with rp that wasn't interested in the MQ, just to get it.

I just spaced the OP's wall of text. Wasn't trying to be a jerk about it, it was just too hard on the eyes, especially being what time it is where I am at.

@Munted: No problem, mate.

Fair enough I should have done that in the first place, I just didn't think I'd written that much.
