Does magicka/stamina regen slower during battle?

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 8:03 pm

I know, two topics, but the latter can be answered quickly and easily. Perhaps I'm just a fool who didn't look hard enough.

Ok, during battle I feel like-most notably-my magicka regens extremely slow comparatively. Any thoughts?

Sorry if this is a repeat post.

It sure feels like they regen slower in combat. The search for the forums is in the floating bar at the top of the web page. The search box is rather grayed out and fairly easy to miss.

I agree on this. Magicka regen does feel slower when in combat.
Out of combat however, the mp regen feels very fast.

I can't confirm this tho.

Yes it does, by alot too.

I think its around 33% or so reg speed, where you have 100% out of combat.
So if you have an enchanted robe that have 100% magic reg, in combat it will reg 33%, unless Im mistaken.

Thats why Magic users are better off focusing on lowering the mana cost for spell schools rather then magic regeneration.

Mana Regen traits on equipment does not affect combat.

Aka, the 100% + mana regen on your robe is useless during combat.

In combat, only + Magicka and Spell Cost Reduction spells matters.

Ahhh, that makes so much sense. How did you find out those specifics? Game guide? Stamina as well? Man, that is such a pain lol.

Ah, ok thanks for confirming.

I suppose a MP regen mod would be cool, to apply the same regen % in combat as out of combat.
Woudn't have to drink pots so much lol. Hopefully it won't be too OP.

I agree with the slower-combat-regen. I watched the magicka bar too... it was visibily faster out-of-combat.

Do regen potions act the same as spells in combat as well?

Yea stamina and magicka faster regen buffs, enchants, perks etc only work out of combat. Stupid idea if you ask me since you can just wait 1hr and be full with them.

The magicka regen works in combat. Its just reduced like your base regen. If you take your gear off in combat you will notice a difference. If you don't, then you don't have a lot of magicka regen. I have +200% and it regenerates rather fast in combat.

Does that include Guardian stones like the Lady or the Apprentice?

Yeah, I'd like to see some solid information about regen. Having regen items only work outside of combat seem ridiculous since you can just wait 1 and be fully regen. I figured they were just reduced during combat rather than completely eliminated from the equation. Now I'm a bit curious if the light armor stamina regen will really help at all.

its so slow to the point were +magicka regen is completely trash compared to +magicka or +skill gear.

however mods fix this, go to skyrimnexus.com and type regen in search. Get the .5x or 1.0x speeds.

Not sure if the perks and such don't work in combat, but I am 100% certain you do regen slower in combat. I was looking through the values in Skyrim.esm using TESSnip for a mod I'm working on and noticed the CombatMult values for Health, Stamina, and Magicka -- they are set to 0.33, so you most likely have a 77% penalty to regen in combat.

Regen enchants and robes WORK in combat. Magicka regen in combat is 3 times slower than out of combat.
