Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 5:49 pm

When this happened in Fallout 3 it was just a few lbs and wasnt really that big of a worry

But 12 lbs, how can you QA a game and have people not taking back quest items?

Anyone do anything for the Bard's College and get out clean?

I think I have about 16lbs of hagraven heads in my inventory which I can't get rid of. I was gunna use them as trophies for my house but even after finishing the quest they are quest items and cannot be dropped... great.

They have no weight. They say they do, but if you remove everything from your inventory except for quest items, your weight should read 0/350 (or whatever your max is). Others have tried and confirmed this as well.

If you are stuck with weapons, you can equip them and place them on weapons racks to get rid of them. My Breezeway home is filled with a few quest essentials I never got around to completing the quests for.

For me, they never added any weight. I tried this for weapons/misc. items and such.

I'm having trouble understanding why anyone would bother with that faction. Do you get to play music?

As rsersen said, their apparent weight isn't factored into your overall encumbrance, so apart from cluttering the inventory screen, I wouldn't worry too much.

For the record, unless things have changed since Oblivion, the units aren't "pounds" (a 12 pound sword would break your wrist!) but just arbitrary units of encumbrance taking into account something's awkwardness to carry as well as its weight, which also explains why those skilled in certain armour types are no longer encumbered by it. I prefer to think of the units as "inconveniences".

Quest items have no weight. Simple as that.

Drop everything from your inventory and your carry weight will be at zero.

Stuck with giants toe and alto wines. Can't sell them, drop them, or use the toes in alchemy. Quick tip for those wanting to get rid of the e-scroll, go to Mage college and sell it to the NPC in the 2nd floor.

Have you finished the whole companions quest line? I was able to drop the hag heads no problems, have them stored in a chest somewhere.

SOME of the "quest items" have weights. I'm carrying 2 statues I stole right now before I picked up the quest, now I can't get rid of them. It's only 0.4lb though

I have 50 pounds of quest items, that the weight is still being counted for.

Probably because these items are mundane magical amulets that can be found as random loot (Amulet of Talos). You can't drop all but one for the quest; the more that go in the stack, the more things you can't drop. So I have 50 pounds of Talos Amulets that are marked as quest items, and they actually are counting against my weight, even if the "unique" quest items are not.

You don't get to play music, but you DO get to write your own poem (kinda) and have a Burning Man festival :D

Doing a quest in a lighthouse way up north.

Toward the end you get the guys' remains that are used to light the warning light atop the lighthouse.

I did that, nice light, but still have his bloodied red skull in my inventory. Can't drop it, or store it in my chest sigh.

Wouldn't mind keeping it and putting on display, hopefully someone will make a mod that allows you to do that.

No, but if you finish the questline you get a free point in every skill in the game.

Oh big deal. They don't have an official name for the units of weight. Would you rather I call them [censored] Stones? :shakehead:
