Armless Player Needs Help Binding A & E Menu Keys

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 9:32 am

I have no arms and so I have to use arrow keys to play, in the game either in barter, loot, pipboy menus you have to press A to accept/take all or E to exit. So wondering if its possible to change those default keys to Num2 and Num5. Pain in the ass using mouse to keep clicking when its sooo much faster to press a single button that's not on the other side of the keyboard, so could really use a hand... or 2. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I guess a better solution would be Z-boards or Mouse with lots of buttons.

Yeah, you just go Esc > Options > Controls(I think?) > Then look for the thing you'd like to change, just select the current button (So "A" and "E" in this case) and type the new button you'd like. Don't forget to save the changes afterwards. ^_^

Unfortunately, those keys are not mappable in the Control menu, and I haven't found a way to do it in any ini file. Sorry.

About the only way I can think to do it is if you had a mouse with extra buttons that you haven't mapped--you could use your mouse utility to bind the extra buttons to A and E.

Ofcourse you can costumize the actionbuttons, just go into options then controls. Good luck to you!

Really, i just asumed that it was possible to map every key, kinda strange actually. You should call their customer support and ask if there is any way to remap them.

He's not talking about the movement buttons, he's talking about the interface buttons in screens like VATS and Barter. Those are hard-coded to A and E, and they don't remap with your WASD/E keys.

Have you ever considered using a programmable keyboard or game pad? Then you don't have to worry if keys are hard coded in the game. You can simply assign the buttons to whatever you like. I personally use a n52te and I know there are other good ones out there as well (I know Logitech makes one too). I would suspect that such a device might help with a number of games for you.
