But i had good armor ._. i played a mage before wearing nothing but that mage's clothing wich dosn't even add to your armor, and it semmed like their physical damage was the same as it was on my warrior... is the base armor points working correctly? Because it dosn't look like it.
I might add, i played on my mage up to lvl 39, and i never found such broken enemy scaling... the game might have tought i was way stronger than that i guess.
The different between unimproved armor and improved armor (a whole set) could be a difference of hundreds of points. You can raise your early smithing skills easily by just casually improve every set of armor you upgrade (like going from leather to steel to glass, etc). Even if you don't feel like spending your time on training smithing skill you could come across/buy smithing-enhancing potions from vendors that normally carry potions and that'll help with smithing.
I'm guessing 100 armor rating might as well be 0 to the game; I do not know. Also it would make sense magic would be powerful cause I
think magic bypass armor. I dunno about arrows.
But I agree, 1 shot is ridiculous. You might have just gotten critical'ed.
Edit: if you want to train your smithing skill you could craft a lot of iron daggers to use up all those useless iron you come across. Also improving them after you've crafted them is more economical (use less material). The game doesn't care what you craft/improve, it's all the same level of improvement to your smith skill.
