Whatare the perks of the companions guild?

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 7:16 pm

What do I get out of it in the end? What are some perks of joining them.

Here are the main ones fron my understanding.
1. Free heavy armor training if you acquire Farkas as a follower
2. The main spoiler of the thing. (ya know grrr..)
3. Aela the huntress.....mmmm.....
4. Free archery training if you marry Aela
5. You can marry Aela
6. Free bedding
7. I'm assuming some kind of weapon?
8. Did I mention Aela?

Are there any other perks I can get by joining? I don't care about spoilers.

After you know, grr, people in Whiterun tell you that you smell like a dog, ask you if fur is coming out of your ears.

In all seriousness, some Whiterun guards will treat you with more respect, and I think they like you more for it.

Spoiler
The opportunity to become a Werewolf.

That's pretty much the main thing. That and Aela's... assets.

A bunch of companions. Vilkas, Farkas, and Aela are my personal favorites.

I don't think you get any free training. Unless you mean buying the training then using them as a companion, going into inventory and taking the money back? I think that will be patched, along with being able to pickpocket the money you spend on training back. You can forge skyforge steel at some point during the questline. You can upgrade the werewolf power as well, to call wolves to come and help you.

Apart from an involving story quest line and some side kicks that makes life easier in the game...

I didnt know you get free training btw? You sure about this?

Since Im an Archer, I might need to look at Aela then, although she is only expert and I dont have far from that.

The weapons you get from joining the companions are very good at the beginning of the game. But from mid game onwards they are not.
Skyforged weapons are on par with Orcish metal weapons, and you can get them from lvl 1 if you want. They lasted my first, warrior character, up until late 20s until he replaced them.

Other then that. I think you get some nice things, a nice story etc.

Gear should be recieved from chests. Atleast thats how I play the game:-)

Was what I said, what you meant about free training?

Oh and another thing, if you commit a crime as a werewolf, no repercussions as your normal character , but I always commit my crimes in stealth ha.

Waagabond: You buy the training, acquire them as a follower and then "trade" with them to get the money back. Generally cheating.
