Help on my Warrior

Post » Sat Dec 10, 2011 2:40 pm

im kinda new to the forums so forgive me if im posting this in the wrong section or what not.But recently i leveled up my first skyrim character as a warrior using 2 hander.Im currently just doing the companion questline and it seems like im just getting my ass handed to me left and right. Is there a certain way your suppose to build a warrior that im not doing right or whats up.When i put on dual casting flames i can easily kill the mobs but when i use my 2 hander it seems like i do so little dammage and i just end up taking a ton of dammage and dieing.

I have a similar build and feel that 2-handing seems to leave you susceptible to taking a lot of damage. (Sacrificing Def for Attack power I guess)

Are you using the block-jab thing to break/interrupt their attacks?

Also focus very heavily on your 2-H skill and try to time your power attacks for when theyre stunned or recovering from an attack of their own to do a tonne of extra damage. And Im not 100% on the game mechanics here but I found that whenever I was out of stamina near melee enemies, they would use a finishing move and 1-shot me.

Oh and you'll need a lot of stamina. I increased only stam until I had 150 and then alternated between stam and health without ever touching magicka.

No I never fully understood the block mechanic of the game.
And yeah i would get one shotted alot by melee characters as well without stamina.I'll try to work more with the timing of my attacks and such.

I'm not sure, what type of enemies are you facing? From the very beginning my two-handed orc would 2-3 hit kill someone. Try starting off with a power attack, then back off while holding the block button, then when they hit your block, hit them again.

Two hand does leave you a little exposed for the trade off of being able to deal more damage.

You CAN still block though, just not as effectively as with a shield.

Make sure you wear some heavy armor and try to keep moving and stay on the attack.

You'll also wanna carry some health potions and invest some time into smithing to improve the damage/defence of your gear early on. (even if you don't wanna actually invest perks in it.)

there's your problem, destruction magick and two handed weapons. Both are the worst in my opinion. Either go archery or one-handed + block. If you go archery make sure you have a back up plan, even sneak. Destruction blows IMO.

also, get yourself a dang follower they are normally free :P

Oh you should try to get the Lord Stone bonus as well. Increases both your Phys and Magical defence. Its on a mountain east of Morthol.

Don't know if itt changes but my present level 26 Warrior is just mowing things down. He hasn't even abused Smithy or Chants either. Yes there is the occasional boss but most other content he is kicking azz. With a 2hander it's all about kill them before they kill you so you need to get lucky and find yourself a sweet weapon. I also got lucky with a few chest drops, got two pieces of Heavy armor with added +20pct to 2h weapon damage bonus.

I don't even bring companions anymore as they slow me down on this character. I also use that one shout where you warp fast run for a short distance, allows me to get within melee range quick for them pesky casters spamming frost bolt.

Block perks are still important for 2h. If you want to be effective in melee in this game then you have to bash effectively. Quick Reflexes in the block tree helps with this a lot, pumping some stamina also helps, also block % affects parrying. So don't be afraid to take block perks as a 2h.

Yea what Karras said. take the initial perks for block damage absorption bonus and even a few perk points in Heavy armor percentage bonus. Without a shield you need Armor and block to work as your main line of damage absorption skills. Keep chugging along. Once you get a few lucky item drops like my warrior did you will mow things down in no time.

You can also go into settings and drop the difficulty from the default medium to one of the 2 easier settings to help with working on your blocking/attacking techniques. You can change the setting back or to higher difficulty at any time during game play.

Meh to each their own. Part of the fun and challenge is "finally" exacting revenge on some boss who was kicking your azz. There were two bosses earlier for my warrior that I gave up on and let them live, or maybe they let me live. Once I gained a few more levels and found some nice upgrades in gear went back and showed them who is boss! Now I could have just dropped difficulty sliders to get past that particular encounter but it's far more satisfying coming back once you grew up a bit...

To each their own tho...
