Sneaky destruction mage ?

Anyone playing a sneaky destruction mage and having a good time? (no illusion or conjuration as support, just destruction)

Does destruction and sneaking actually have good synergy? I mean, can you cast a bolt/fireball without breaking stealth, etc?

I'm using spellsword assassin with destruction left hand, sword right, and as long as it kills first strike and your decently hidden you should be alright.

I haven't but I can't see it being that great...cause there are no sneak perks that help destruction mages, only perks for melee weapons.

i was actually playing one on my first play through before i realized i didn't have enough points to be viable until level 75 at least so i reset my character and I'm concentrating on the mage first to level 50 then sneak after.

Maybe if you took Illusion's silent casting perk, this idea could work. Still though, magic does not receive any bonus from stealth, so the only way stealth is going to help you here is from a defense standpoint (i.e. not being killed because enemies can't find you).

EDIT: by the way, my current character is a mage with a bit of stealth. Though, he isn't focusing just on destruction; he's using all the schools, but with a focus on conjuration, alteration and destruction.
