[REQ] More butterfly styles and fairies

Post » Tue Oct 13, 2009 5:04 am

First off I have no ability with graphics and have never tried using any of the graphics software that people use, like Blender and NIFScope etc.

In Oblivion there are animated butterflies that flutter around and they look so pretty. I made a mod to increase the number of them, but they are getting boring now as they all look so similar. This is my mod > http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=26218

If anyone could be so kind, I'd like to have some more butterflies and moths, with new new colours and maybe slightly smaller and larger variants. Also if anyone could make Fairies or something similar like dragonflies, that would be great.

I hope someone out there can help.

If you check out the MiscButterfly01.nif (Landscape>MiscButterfly01.nif), then you'll notice that the butterfly is only a texture. Retexturing it to be a dragonfly shouldn't be hard; and recoloring the original would be even easier!
If you're well versed with NifSkope, this shouldn't be a problem for you to handle. Smaller and larger variants can be found through changing the Scale setting of the NiTriShape (or NiNode) for each 3 element (LWing, RWing, MiscButterfly01).
However, if you're not - then you can check out http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Retex_Guide for some help.

I'd be happy to do this REQ for you, but I'd have to take some credit for it off you. Feel free to message me if you want help from me, or for me to do it for you. If you want this to be entirely your project and achievement, then go ahead and do it yourself. It doesn't look tricky. :)
Good luck either way!

I've made some fairies for a mod I didn't release yet. You can see them in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPleSUISdFc video. They are pretty low poly and only look good at a small scale or from a distance, but I guess fairies shouldn't be large anyway.

This is a nice idea. I'm fairly handy in photoshop so I could do some recolours for you. PM me if you would like my help.

Those fairies look awesome!

That's exactly what I was thinking, with the sparkles as well, really great.

Would it be possible for me to use the resources for those fairies? I would give you the credit for making them, and link your mod as the resource.
