Why does the YCS/186 do more DPS than damage when it still f

^ Basically my topic says it all. I just want to know the rationale behind the DPS value being greater than the damage dealt.

Hope this could help at all.
Take care fellow Valterian!

If you scroll over the "DPS" you'll see "this number does not take reloading into account". And considering that the rate of fire for all Gauss Rifles is dictated by reloading then DPS is more or less a useless inaccurate value.

The DPS value leads me to believe that if Gauss Rifles could shoot without the need of reload then their rate of fire would be on par with most other weapons.

Oh, I see. That makes perfect sense.

Is there any I can get the exact time it takes to reload then? :)

The less agile you are the longer it takes to reload... a 1 agility char realy takes awhile to reload guns... also luck factors into jams which slow the reload.. And finaly random acts of evil devs prolly factor in as well..

If you turn on godmode (weapons do not consume ammo), the gauss rifles do indeed have a very satisfactory rate of fire. The only thing holding them back is the reloading.

Hrm. Well, I'm editing my faq so getting the formula or the number would be really good thing ;)

I seems to take about 1.67 seconds or so. It's just a guess. My character has 10 agility though.

If you have the PC version and the G.E.C.K you can look the gun up and will see all its stats as a breakdown.
They list DPS for firing one clip and no reloads: continuous firing including reloads (although the figures might be wrong if you have fast reload perk.)
: sneak attacks / normal criticals etc I'd look it up but im at work at the moment.

Go into the GECK, and decrease its magazine clip to 1. That'll show its actual DPS.
Any weapon with a magazine clip of 3 or more will ignore reloading times when displaying its DPS.

Gauss projectile also produce a small explosion which dealt additional damage.

If I calculated it right AGI 10 and Rapid Reload on Gauss/YCS bring the reload speed just under a second.......
