The carriage drivers

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 12:09 pm

In Skyrim, most Nords speak with an accent. They sound either vaguely Nordic, or Arnoldish, as has been mentioned before here on the forums. Either way, they do create some kind of feel that you are in a different land/culture. Therefore it is a bit funny to hear the carriage drivers. When you tell them where to go and they reply "Climb in back and we'll be off", they sound like some US southerner! It's the only real US accent I've heard in the game, so it really stands out like a soar thumb. I just found it quite funny?

Anyone else notice this?

I heard a Southern accent and a Brooklyn accent in the game.

I'm Norwegian myself, so I'm not too familiar with the various US accents. But this just sounds like a cowboy and is so different from a lot of the other Nords in the game.

Anyone who's met Barbas will know how his voice doesn't fit in with any other in Skyrim.

Same with that boy in Windhelm, he sounds very American too. But he has a more - in my ears - generic US accent. The carriage driver sounds like a cowboy.

They sound Polish to me.

Thats also east european, its just funny that That is what accent they hit, I mean theyre supposed to be scandinavian/viking style right? And its even more ironic after I watched the "Sound of Skyrim" video where the guy talked about how he REALLY didnt want the "nordic" accent to sound ridiculous, when they didnt get a nordic accent at all.

They sound kinda Canadian to me. I just noticed that they're supposed to be different people in each Hold, but they all sound the same. I thought they were all one person.

The variety of accents is interesting. I don't think any of them are intended to sound like one specific accent. Some of the Thieves' Guild members sound sort of Scottish to me, which is pretty unique from what I've seen in Skyrim thus far.

I've heard one clearly Scottish accent in Riften. The non regional American accent is representative of the Empire pretty much, Imperials sound American. Most of the Nords sound Germanic, but some sound Scandinavian, like the they guy who owned the mill in Little House on the Prairies, don'cha know.

There is an american accent somewhere in the thieves guild. I only noticed because she said a.rse and not ass like an American actually would. Americans pronouncing a-r-s-e sounds -really- wrong.
