Dual wielding shields

Granted, it would be a silly thing with few practical applications, but a lot of the fun in Elder Scrolls games comes from silly things with few practical applications.

Yeah pretty much that. They would have to make two entire sets of animations just for something almost nobody would use.

I want to dual wield 2h swords. Might not have the arm strength to wield them both, but I could drag them both across the floor, and just spin around in circles turning myself into a giant Dwemer trap thing.

It would be fun to run around with nothing but shields and shouts.

haha that reminded of a spin2win lann XD i could picture that ingame but in a 1st person view it'd be kind of silly haha and dizzy.

But seriously I always thought about using dual shields and just shield bashing people to death haha I usually get the last hit on dragons by power bashing their skulls in.

It would be hilarious.

I actually have a D&D character who is pretty much OP because I built it around using two shields.

I think all the other adventurers would just laugh at you. Get a weapon, safety boy.

This.

I wouldn't use them seriously, but it's clear we don't have complete freedom in how we equip our weapons/items. You also cannot be a left handed swordsman, as the right hand will punch when you activate it instead of initiating the block.

Because "Game Design" process have been streamlined, there is no more time on the schedule to put in silly things.

Because to hold a shield you need to brace yourself. Bracing w/ two shields wouldn't work at all because you couldn't stagger your footing appropriately.

Anyone who has ever played rugby can tell you that is false; it is entirely possible to stop two impact forces simultaneously.

It would only be one extra set of animations. They already have the left-hand shield stuff, and making things just for the lulz is part of why Elder Scrolls is awesome.

Just as silly: healing spell in right hand, shield in left hand.

I now really want to dual wield shields and spin around with gigantic swords. Be the ultimate tank, or the ultimate killing machine.

The way the game is designed, it's mechanically impossible. You'd be unable to bash or block with either or both, since the right hand attack button also bashes with the shield.

It was actually mentioned during development.

It was called the "Confused Turtle" option. Lower right on this chart:

Apparently it was removed from the game.

i was hoping for dual shields as well, and got disappointed. And don't let these naysayers discourage your creativity, they just have no imaginations =)

Would be cool if you had the ability to throw weapons/shields. would make it more fun to pick up all the weapons and shields you find on enemies that you kill. and imagine throwing an axe and having it lodge into someones skull!

I know, its disappointing. It was going to be my playstyle once I heard that spears weren't in. But Beth has a thing for curbstomping my hopes and dreams
