Help! These things have been flying around me like annoying

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 3:47 pm

Can anyone figure out what this is? Also tried un-equipping everything, removing disease, sleeping, waiting, restarting game, to no avail. Nothing shows up on the active effects regarding this.
need help! (don't know if this is quest related but I don't recall any of my quest having this effect)

the annoying things I'm referring to are the yellow bits, they fly around me like some sort of wasp or insect swarm.

There are 14 permanent abilities(perks) and a few temporary ones you can pick up by doing certain quests, that may be one of them, If so that is lame. I have never seen that effect before, so I really don;t know what it is.

Looks kinda like the Spriggan effect. I've seen this before. Some people have picked up the steam effect from Dwemer Steam Centurions. Looks crazy.

PC related bug though. No fix I know of.

That sounds like the arrow/spell stuck in body bug. Find out what casts that spell. I suspect it might be those forest nymph creatures. Have one cast it on you a second time so it un-bugs.

If you're on the PC, I have a fox for you. Hit the "~" key just above tab to activate the console and type in "sixchange" then repeat that process. This will reset your character model to it's normal state with no ill effects.

P.S. if you're on vista or windows 7 the "~" key may not work right. You'll want to google "Skyrim windows (vista or 7) open console" or something to that effect.

looks like the spriggan aura. maybe having a spriggan zap you with its bug beam for a while may cause them to go.

Have you been to a word wall since?

I have heard that word walls fix a lot of the video bugs, don't know if it would work, but good luck.

Notice how he's wearing fully concealing armour?

He's a Spriggan!!
That explains the aura!!

Those things look like teeth (fangs), or maybe claws. Any spells that use such an effect?

Try transforming to a werewolf! It worked for me (I had an arrow stuck in my head for days and then I transformed myself and afterwards it was gone). ;)

That effect would really spoil the atmosphere of the game if it continued to persist.

What's annoying is the effect is visible in first person so it's blocking vision when aiming or interacting.

Anyone know where I can find spriggans? I can't find any D: the ones in eldergleam reserve didn't respawn.

There is a lot of them on the South parts of the map just walking through the forest. Or you may even bump into a few of theyre caves.

Ok, an update : sadly nothing worked here's what I tried

  • remove disease
  • sixchange (temporary solution as it will work in 3rd person but returns when you go to first person)
  • Turning into werewolf and back
  • unequipping everything
  • storing all items
  • Fighting the spriggan/ spriggan matrons
  • Taking a bath (swimming)

I'm looking at losing about 3-5 hours progress to revert to an earlier save.

Makes me wonder if you could pick up the Dragon Priest Aura like this, but that's definitely a Spriggan effect, but sadly it seems being Re-hit with it doesn't fix it like it does with Arrows.

I had the same problem which started as I killed an imperial soldier in a companion quest.
Nothing I tried to get rid of it worked. Initially changing to werewolf form and back removed it, but it returned as soon as I switched to 1st person from 3rd, or changed cells (like leaving the breezehome)... eventually I reloaded to a save before I got it and did the same quest again...

Just curious if you tried using a shrine? Remove your gear first and activate a shrine and see if that removes the unwanted effects...

Uh, I'm going to recommend something dangerous. Save your game before you do this. Save twice. Back up your saves even. Then try this:

Type player.disable in the console. Then with the console still open, type
player.enable

I have no idea what that will do. It should "update" your character to their most recent proper state. It might also just crash the game or who knows.

EDIT:
Oh. I just read up on this, it won't work. It used to crash oblivion, but for Skyrim it just doesn't do anything at all. So uh, nevermind.

I'll keep looking.
