How do I cut a mesh in half?

Post » Wed Oct 14, 2009 2:58 pm

I have no clue about texturing or modeling. I have NifSkope and NifTexture and I'm wanting to cut http://img31.imageshack.us/img31/151/73891499.jpg in half so that I only have one hand print instead of two. It's the resource mod by Vurt.

Normally that couldn't be done. But for that particular mesh you could scale the mesh on the hoizontal axis by 50% and then edit the UV map so that either hand print is centered on the resized mesh.

It looks like a basic alpha square with a texture on it. You could also just change the texture to have just the one hand print as well. :)

Ask Vurt, he may still have the original files for it.

They're by Qarl I just realized. Well no point in trying to contact him, as he's about as hard to contact as Korana.

Like suggested already, it would be a lot easier to just edit the UV rather then the mesh. In Nifskope you simply select the object in the viewport, right click> texture> edit uv's, and then you just need to move the verts around so that the map is centered on one of the hands.

How do I move the vertices around in http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/7355/40374110.jpg? When I edit the texture UVs, I just get this little box that looks like I can't do anything in it. Nothing moves or anything in it.

See these little white dots (and lines) on the bottom line of this bright gray square: they are UV coordinates you have to move. Select all of them and move to the correct position (it is better to ally ant texture). Rectangle them, press and hold LMB, move. When you place cross cursor over a vertex (dot) cursor changed to hand symbol, press LMB, cursor changed to movement arrows cross.

What's LMB? Or do you mean the letter keys L, M and B?
