I'm bored of fighting all these damn draugrs. In my opinion, fighting Daedra in Morrowind and Oblivion was far more interesting than these endless hordes of zombies. I've only encountered a few dremora and then some atronachs that conjurers summon.

my question is, werent the oblivion gates just open some what..200? years ago, were the gates only open in cyrodil? or all of tameriel? did all the gates close the second you "beat" the main quest line from oblivion? wouldnt daedra have wandered off into the world after the gates did open?

ive only encounter 4/5 dremora the entire game and they were specifically for a questline for the razor...thats it?

Your title is misleading. "So many daedra". I came in here thinking I was going to find out where they were :)

Heh, don't think you could tell he was being sarcastic. It's not misleading, it's sarcastic.

Spoiler
Once you get the letter to go to the dawnstar "museum" do all the quests that the guy asks for. You will then go to mehrunes shrine. Instead of killing the curator, let him live (no dagger for you) and presto, two dremora lords will spawn to kick your ass

I already knew that. Notice that in the OP, I made no mention of dremora or atronachs. The reason I did so, is because they ARE in the game. But are there many of them? No.

Also note that I am not saying that I want many atronachs and dremora in the game. Oblivion had too many atronachs and dremora. I want more types of daedra like in the past games of the series. More variety.

My current character has seen two Flame Atronachs in the wild. Everything else has been something that was summoned.

Yeeeeeeah.... The things in TES4 were gates. They made it easier to transition between Mundus and Oblivion by creating a stable fixed point. But daedra can still transition back and forth without them (much harder for mortals). The gates were intended to allow a wholesale invasion of Mundus. Presumably, without a gate a daedra's power is reduced or the duration of its trip to Mundus is limited. But it's still clearly possible for them to arrive. Skyrim itself supports this because, while daedra are more rare than in previous games, they're still around.

And I do kind of miss them. They are uniquely Elder Scrolls.

Well, with the exception of Golden Saints (Sheogorats Exclusive), Dark Seducers (Sheogorat as well) I agree with you, we need more Daedra.

With this setting trough, I think that they should be limited to some locations only. A Xivalai in the middle of the Fall Forest don't see fitting to me.

Hmm, where did you read that those are Sheogorath's exclusively? The Golden Saints might be or might not, but daedra seducers also served both Mehrunes Dagon and Nocturnal in Battlespire.

One could cast a spell to summon a Golden Saint in both TES III and IV, so there's no real reason why we shouldn't be able to in Skyrim.

Xivilai aren't really any more out of place than dremora are. And I'd vote for seeing Winged Twilights and Ogrim as well.

With the absence of Daedra, and the presence of creatures like Dragons, giants, mammoths, etc. the enemies in Skyrim just seem to be too much of the generic fantasy category to me.

I guess I will just have to hope that for the next game, five or so years from now, Bethesda will wisen up and make the next game more similar to Morrowind in that it was more of an alien world with strange creatures rather than a familiar world with generic fantasy creatures and creatures that exist on Earth.

I agree.
Also, the removal of spellmaking has added a lot in the loss of that unique TES feel.
It sort of feels like Conan now.
Its pretty, but ultimately dull.

If they want alien they'd better make a game set in Black Marsh.

Hello? Did everybody forget "The doors to Oblivion were shut forever"?

and yet i can conjure up a dremora lord that whole thing seems to only to apply to mehrunes realm the deadlands as sheogorath himself was able to open a portle to the mad house(shivering isles) withut effort...meaning martin closed it for a few days lol also clavicus vile has these small yellow imp dudes that serve him :intergalactic:

I have a very strong suspicion the DLC will centre around Jyggalag and the other Daedra God's plotting his downfall again. Bringing with it the return of many lesser Daedra. :chaos:

They must know that people who have grown up with the series are going to notice the lack of Scamps and Daedroth roaming around. They must be planning something major for them with the expansion. I just hope we see a return of my old favourites, The Orgrim and Winged Twilights. :D

^This.

Most Daedra disappeared after the story of TES IV: Oblivion into, well, yeah, Oblivion... Considering this game takes place after TES IV, it's would not be logical if there were Daedra everywhere, because according to the story.. they're gone. Maybe if any future TES games will be released they'll take place before Oblivion, and you'll have your Daedra back! ;)

The lack of daedra isn't a regional thing, or simply a game design decision, it's a point of Lore.

After Martin Spetim sacrificed himself and brought a close to the Oblivion Crisis, the ability of daedra to cross between Oblivion and Tamriel was all but negated. New portals cannot be openned. The only daedra you're likely to encounter are those few who have been on since the Oblvion crisis (roughly 200 years ago) or those which are breifly summoned through Conjuration magic. Hence, far fewer daedra, not just in Skyrim but in Tamriel as a whole.

Wut?

Besides, I disagree; I think Skyrim is the best environment developed to date. I don't mean just visually, I mean in the sense that there isn't an overdone daedric influence, but instead a genuine feeling of how harsh the environment is there. Half the time in Skyrim you're in a dense snow storm with wolves and bears hunting anything they can find.

Plus, I know a lot of people disagree, but I think that dragons add a whole new layer to the game, and generally aren't easy on master without some immense smithed/enchanted equipment. Hell in the MQ I have fully levelled dragonscale armour and I was still having to use terrain to block the dragons' fire so I could recover between engagements. Daedra in TES games were always pushovers in comparison.

There are other ways for Daedra to enter Mundus. The front door may have been bolted shut, but the back gate can be opened from the inside.

Exactly, that's why there are so few of them. Long-time visitors are rare now.
