Before Starting - No One Escapes Cidhna Mine

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 7:25 am

Has anyone done this quest? I'm about to finish "The Forsworn Conspiracy" and it looks like it (Cidhna Mine) might be a buggy quest since it involves your inventory items being removed, just concerned with quest item removal and such.

If anyone has had problems with this quest, please tell me. Thanks

I have some glitched quest items in my inventory like Finn's Lute and the Amulet of Talos, did you have anything like that?

Save beforehand!! You should save every two minutes!

I had no problems with the quest, but if you need info, you should go to the 'bugs' part of the forum and post it there. Those guys complain all the time, someone will be able to tell you something about it.

The only problem I had with this quest is that I killed about 12 guards before I realized I wasn't supposed to resist arrest. After that, though, everything went fine! lol

There's more than one way to do the quest, no dead guards in my game.

Got my stuff back OK too.

That's been one of my favorite storylines so far. I killed the initial corrupt guards rather than submit to their shenanigans, but then surrendered to the next one, who just seemed to be doing his job based on what he knew. In the mine I followed the dictates of my character's conscience, did things that seemed to be off the rails of the storyline, and discovered there was a different story to tell as a result. Kudos Bethesda.

Of course, as a result,

the corrupt faction of the city guards want my head now. I can never visit the shrine of Talos in Markarth again because that's where they can attack me with impunity. Worth it!

There are some bugs associated with this quest!

Its very important to make a hard save before you enter the temple of Talos, as that is the last point at which some of the bugs can be avoided or rectified.

At the end of the quest, do not get involved in the fight!

I've had it bug once, nothing serious at all. On my orc, who had no one-handed weapon skill, he couldn't escape solo with the weapons provided, so I had to get the help of the other prisoners to escape, but killed them all the moment I got my equipment back from them. Most NPCs think that I still escaped with them, and they performed their massacres.

If you have a high one-handed, sneak, or magic skill, it should be cake to escape. Just escape normally by:

Killing Madanach, looting the note and key, and leaving through the designated tunnel.

I did this quest last night for the first time, and found this out the hard way.

On the good side, killing them all removed my bounty since they were the only witnesses...
