Found a way to cleanup dragon corpses! (PC version only)

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 2:27 pm

Greetings everyone!

I just found out how to clean up dragon corpses, so for everyone who has killed a ton of dragons and doesn't want to wait for the patch or for some reason won't be getting the patch'

Open your command line with ~

Click on the dragon

(MAKE SURE YOU CLICK THE DRAGON, ITS POSSIBLE THAT CLICKING ON SOMETHING ELSE AND MARKING IT FOR DELETION WILL REMOVE IT. If you want to get it back then search up it's ID code and the corresponding console command to add it back to the world. After marking the dragon for deletion click off of it and then on it again and it should have a "[D]" next to it's I.D. code)

type "MarkForDelete" (without the quotes) and then press enter

Press F5 to quicksave

Press F9 to quickload

Behold, the dragon skeleton is GONE!

NOW HAVE FUN AND PURGE EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM FROM NIRN!

(If this fix didn't work for you make sure you entered the command correctly, it worked for me but I will not assume this will work for every PC player, I sure hope it does though!)

Much love everyone, happy gaming.

Here is an Edit from myself with one more solution that I found on some forums while surfing the web, be careful with this second solution, you can make parts of the environment dissapear but in some ways is better than the method above.

open the console
Click the dragon skeleton or corpse or piece of environment, good for cleaning messes, and type disable into the console
press enter
it should dissapear

if you click something wrong then before clicking anything else the i.d. should still be selected, just type enable and it will bring it back after closing the console.

hope this helps

Clean up? All my dragon corpses disappear almost right away on PC.
Seriously, I killed a dragon in Morthal, went inside one of the houses, went outside again and it was gone. None of those corpses stay for long.

The Ash piles seem to never disappear.

Dragon Corpses are supposed to stay in the world. It's all the other corpses that should go away after a while.

They need to fix this. I don't get why they added it in if the piles never disappear. It's been this way since Fallout 3.

Why would you want to clean up the dragon corpses? It's good to have them there so you can come back and get the bones and scales from it if you have too much gear on you.

What accumulating corpses? If anything I think they are vanishing too quickly on some of my kills. None of them have hung around mover than 1 hour in-game time, Often much less.

What am I doing that the rest of you all are not? Or you doing that I am not?

I read a lot of folks were having issues with dragon corpses not cleaning up properly, those players who have experienced the corpses dissapear quickly they haven't actually disappeared. In my experiences what happens is that whenever you go through a loading point it spawns everything for the environment during the load and the dragon skeletons will spawn randomly around the map which is why many people have experienced going to main cities and having dragon skeletons lying randomly about, the biggest complaint is it just being a huge eyesore.

I just wanted to offer the information for anyone seeking it since it seemed there were a good handful of people that were annoyed with this. I don't generally get over encumbered and if for some reason i cant get all the dragon scales in one go i will open the console and add an extra 50 points or so onto my carryweight so i can get the bones and scales back to my chest.

I won't get the patch on Wed.
After the patch that tied the P.C. version to steam, I used peerblock to shut Valve out of my computer and downloaded the crack in protest, my household also bought the game on xbox 360, so I have no guilty feelings, I supported Bethesda with my share of monetary contributions.

Those who disagree are welcome to share their opinion, if this thread gets locked for my confession, I have also posted this solution without mentioninging anything controversial on elderscrolls.wikia.com in the console commands section of Skyrim
