So let me get this straight.

Because other combat options are overpowered... instead of fixing them... archery should too be made overpowered instead?

Archery can already be made overpowered, quite easily. I have some gear that will one-shot a Dragon (or three-shot an Ancient), I just don't use it because it trivializes the game.

Make bows only lose enchanting charge when you actually hit an something living for actual damage like every other weapon.
Make stagger shots depend on location, so a headshot or torso shot will always stagger like Destruction dual-cast always staggers.
Have limb shots slow fleeing run speed considerably.
Increase perk damage multiplier for bows. Come on with the 15x damage (plus gear to make it 30x) for daggers and only 3x for bows?
Add finisher moves for bows? Maybe they exist but at level thirty I have still yet to see one.
Remove the penalty for quick-firing arrows, or speed up the animation for equipping the bow and pulling back the string considerably.

The arrow is enchanted as it leaves the bow. I do not see a problem with this.

Stagger by location could be fun as could limb damage but I do not have a problem with the way it works right now. With respect to magic, if I remember correctly destruction does not benefit from sneak, let off a fire ball and you light up like a Christmas tree and no bonus, so there's the balancing factor.

Limb damage, could be fun.

Increased multiplier? I do not think this is necessary, mobs are falling fast enough as it is.

Finishing moves? Only if I can switch them off. How am I supposed to drop 5 mobs in rapid succession if the game keeps messing with my view of the situation, my aim and my timing?

Sorry, but once again I'm not experiencing any problems with my rate of fire.

Edit:
Targeting is a little odd at times, it's easier to hit a wolf at distance than a troll, but I can live with it.

On closer evaluation I find archery as it is to be a very good design. Like anything it takes practice. But it seems once you get a "feel" for a certain bow you can get the aiming thing down intuitively, and it seems to be based on force.

Like I almost imagine a sort of invisible "power meter" that slides depending on your motion and angle and how far you pull the string back, with certain "zones" or “sweet spots” being more powerful...

Also, my sneak and illusion are now both higher, and I picked up the Animage and Kindred Mage perks as well as a Fear, Muffle, and Fury spell, which seem to help quite a bit as well.

Just now I was delving into some spider infested cave, with lots of ledges and open spaces I was able to sneak around the edges of the light and pick them off one by one. When I got to the "queen" I was able to sneak into her cavern just enough to throw a fear spell on her majesty, and pick off her little offspring before three shots from the shadows took her out before she could spot me.

Fury seems a bit more random, though I might have been testing it before Kindred Mage, which I am not certain if it means that these lower level illusions work on higher level characters, since my rank of Fury is only up to level 5 I believe...

Anyway overall I enjoy archery quite a bit more in this game than any previous I've played. Plus there actually is a sort of finishing move already in place, I just hadn't noticed. If you crit or fatally wound a target humanoid to where they have only a few percent of their HP remaining, with possibly a higher chance on head shots, they will stagger to their knees and struggle to recuperate. =P

So, here are my suggestions thus far:

  • Make bows only lose enchanting charge when you actually hit an something living for actual damage like every other weapon.
  • Make stagger shots depend on location, so a headshot or torso shot will always stagger like Destruction dual-cast always staggers.
  • Have limb shots slow fleeing run speed considerably.
  • Increase perk damage multiplier for bows. Come on with the 15x damage (plus gear to make it 30x) for daggers and only 3x for bows?
  • Add finisher moves for bows? Maybe they exist but at level thirty I have still yet to see one.
  • Remove the penalty for quick-firing arrows, or speed up the animation for equipping the bow and pulling back the string considerably.

1) Pressing X or square while having the bow drawn detatches the arrow......besides casting soul trap or having the soul trap chant aint that hard.
2) 50% is better than 0% im not complaining
3) thats why you have a 50% slow time zoom function? huh
4) Daggers do very little damage with 0 perks into them, at lvl 30 you should have bows that do 30-40 damage plus another 18-20 on arrows, QQ moar about daggers
5) its a ranged attack, there are no finishers, And i dont want one either, Hated fallout 3's finisher shot crap
6)again press X or square to detatch an arrow, And you have a 30% draw speed increase perk. Have you ever fired a real bow before? the draw speed in game is already god like, the fact you get 30% over that is more than what you need.
