Thalmer (SPOILERS) ;)

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 7:12 am

basically i created a new character (high elf mage) and i want to join the thalmers

i joined the legion, but do not want to progress too far, as i have not even started the stormcloak quest (my nord character shall have the honor)

basically.. how do i join and remember the north guard tower (guarded by thalmer)? there's the mission to rescue a gray-mane prisoner and unless you're high up in the legion you have to kill the thalmer. if i killed the thalmer (not named thalmer, yet they wear thalmer gear) would that affect my chances of joining?

Busy topic today.

While I'm at it lore-masters, do the Thalmor consider Talos to be some sort of avatar of Lorkhan?

*taps on the monitor*

Hey Bethesda....want an idea for some DLC? Look at how many folks want to join the Thalmer.

*ahem* This may be a great opportunity for some very interesting writing, and a more in-depth exploreation of the 'shades of grey' that is the overreaching theme in the civil war quest line.

...think about it....

OP, believe me I wish this was an option.

Talos is Lorkhan.
He mantled him, meaning he became him.
It is called the walking way, meaning he 'walked like the god until the god had to walk like him'
The life story of Talos-who-is-Tiber so closely parallels and mimics the story of creation, up to and including the betrayal and death of Lorkhan, that he became Lorkhan.

Think of a Mandelbrot pattern where a big bit is made up out of smaller bits, that look exactly the same as the big one, apart from size.

If the Thalmor can destabilise this belief, the Wheel inside the Wheel that fortifies it, the bigger one is easier to unbind.
They see Lorkhan as a trickster and a jailor, and Mundus as a trap.
If the hold of Lorkhan over the world can be diminished, they have hope of unbinding the dragon and returning to the Dawn.

No.

Lore spoilers:

Spoiler
The Thalmor want to destroy Mankind by removing Talos from the Mythic which will unbalance the Wheel allowing them to ultimately transcend Mundus and return to the state of existence (godhood) they think they originally had. Basically they think Elves should be gods and everyone else should cease to exist.

Well I'm going to spoiler tag this since....

Spoiler
You cannot join the Thalmor, you join the Legion who are allied with the Thalmor. The Dominion are not a faction you can join in Vanilla Skyrim; therefore your only possibility is with a mod or console command.

Well, I guess I was a little late...

The Thalmor may claim to be allied with the Empire, but do not believe them for a second.
