I think the game just told me it was sorry for earlier because I picked an expert door and inside was a chest with an enchanted Ebony Battleaxe that was worth 2,1k, a Elven Helm worth 700 gold, a Dwarven helm, and 300 gold lmao

Sadly, this is a reality. 15 lock picks are worthless. Hell, even your typical run of the mill shop keeper sells a lock pick or two.
