Any other WoW player make this mistake?

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 10:02 am

In WoW, it was all about leveling as fast as you could. You'd go to a hub, fill your quest log, then run out into the wild and complete all the quests. Then, simply run back and turn in. In Skyrim I naturally fell into this method, only to find that one quest opens 3 more, and those 3 quests turn into 8 more, and so on and so forth. I felt totally overwhelmed and completely confused on the plot and which quest had to do with what.

Anyone else make this mistake?

No.

I played Oblivion and Morrowind, though, so I knew what was coming. Exploration, dungeon-delving, and other actions outside of quests are some of the major parts of TES.

Being former WOW player, my first toon did this. Didn't read much of the storyline or npc conversations. Rushed through the content, exploited smithy. I was like you mean I can max smithy outt simply by making iron daggers, and I gain frikkin levels!!! Awesome game!

But I soon figured out the errors in my ways...........

My 2nd run through has been much more enjoyable taking in the world Bethesda created....

why? you dont get XP for quests. they actaully kind of svck and provide little reward. the best fun and profit in TES games is in everything that isnt a quest. sounds to me like your going through WoW withdrawls... dont worry, once you tough it out youll realize how terrible that MMO really was :spotted owl: .

I did that when I first picked up Morrowind and it ruined the game for me. I've seen learnt better.

The plots can be confusing anyway, some quests get added to your quest log regardless what you do, others you can avoid by not talking to a NPC that approached you by just exiting the conversation. That's why you can make quests active so you can see where to go. Also if you have sites added to the map you have not been to yet, from over hearing or NPC talking to you then they are safe to do anyway and should not interfer with any other quest.

Edit: There's no need to level fast in this game it's not like WoW with a set high level before you can do more content. There is a highest level but you don't need to get there.

Nope, but thats probably because WoW isnt really 'questing' its pushing buttons on your keyboard in order to get reward much like Rats locked in a box that push buttons to get feed pellets aka Skinner Box

Good thing this isn't Oblivion LOL... When you leveled up, the mobs leveled up, so if you power leveled you're screwed!

Is that not the case in Skyrim? Mobs are fixed level? That would explain a lot. I keep expecting elite bandits but at level 14 they are all 1hit wonders. Which I like since it means my character has gotten more powerful.

In Skyrim, the mobs level up as you level, but not as extreme as Oblivion. They seem to level up like every 10 levels in Skyrim, versus Oblivion it was every single level.

Lol... I played WoW, and I love TES series. And I always see the clear difference within.
TES is a Role Playing game. As you do things the world changes, and you explore it and you can BE a Dunmer, Imperial, Nord or wathever. In TES Series, nobody will appear in a pack of 10 guys 20 levels up to you and will kill you just for fun.
WoW is a Go to be the best and kill every other player, and well... the final Bosses reborn everyday lol... its another thing , like other said, its a press button and nothing more.

Now I understand. Wondered where people got all this power-leveling stuff.

I didn't make this mistake, I immediately became obsessed with the story. The reason I had too many quests was because every single bit of story interested me. I always did which one I was most interested in at the time though.
