Quick little question here. I'm level 100 in smithing. However, for whatever reason I can only upgrade my Dawn Breaker to flawless. Am I missing something? I have my ebony sword up to epic and it destroys the Dawn Breaker in power and effectiveness. What's the point of making such an awsome sword (Dawn Breaker) when it becomes completely outdated by almost every other sword in the game? I guess my question is the following: can the Dawn Breaker be upgraded higher than flawless? I really hope it can. Otherwise, I'd be forced to throw it to the side because several other regular swords are a lot more powerfull because they have the ability to be upgraded to epic. Can someone clarify this for me please. Thoughs...opinions?

That's just the way it is.

I haven't gotten Dawn Breaker yet, but I think you need to push smithing past 100 (through the use of potions/enchantments) in order to bring it up to legendary status.

i have 100 Smithing, plus the ability to improve Daedric Weapons, and the Ring of Minor Smithing (supposed to add 12%) but when i try to upgrade the Dawn Breaker beyond Flawless, i get a message saying:
"you lack the required skill to improve this item." At the same, it tells me I need four ebony ingots to improve the item.

It may be that I have not yet acquired the necessary smithing bonuses, in whatever form. that are required.
I do not see a claim by anyone (so far) to indicate that the Legendary version of this weapon has been achieved.
Will continue to try...

I upgraded mine to EPIC

I had 100 smithing, gloves which added 20 to smithing, and drank 2 of the 40 to smithing blacksmith elixers
So my total maybe was 200? and I got it to epic

I don't think Daedric artifacts are included in any of the perks, which makes them somewhat crap at higher levels. On the other hand, even a flawless dawnbreaker is pretty brokenly powerful at higher levels. Normal gear becomes even more insanely broken. For example, my 2x legendary ebony war-axes can kill literally anything in the game in >15 seconds, including the final boss of the game. It's probably better to stick with a weapon that does less damage, to not get bored too quickly :tongue:
