Patch 1.2 only fixes technical issues?

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 8:14 pm

* Improved occasional performance issues resulting from long term play (PlayStation 3)
* Fixed issue where textures would not properly upgrade when installed to drive (Xbox 360)
* Fixed crash on startup when audio is set to sample rate other than 44100Hz (PC)
* Fixed issue where projectiles did not properly fade away
* Fixed occasional issue where a guest would arrive to the player’s wedding dead
* Dragon corpses now clean up properly
* Fixed rare issue where dragons would not attack
* Fixed rare NPC sleeping animation bug
* Fixed rare issue with dead corpses being cleared up prematurely
* Skeleton Key will now work properly if player has no lockpicks in their inventory
* Fixed rare issue with renaming enchanted weapons and armor
* Fixed rare issue with dragons not properly giving souls after death
* ESC button can now be used to exit menus (PC)
* Fixed occasional mouse sensitivity issues (PC)
* General functionality fixes related to remapping buttons and controls (PC)

It doesnt fix any of the broken buggy quests?

Like the one that makes the companions impossible to complete, or the one which makes the thieves guild unable to complete, or the one that makes the civil war unplayable, or the one that breaks Forbidden Legend, or the one that sticks quest gear in your inventory for all time?

THREE weeks for 15 technical issues as small as certain buttons work now?

1. No [censored], it's not that simple to fix things.

2. The tech issues need to be fixed first

3. Learn patience, 3 weeks is nothing.

Patching a large openworld game takes more time than you think. Fixing one thing could break 10 other things.

Perhaps they kept the quest fixes out of the patch notes to avoid spoilers?

Some games don't get patched at all, let alone two times in three weeks. There will be more patches, people. Perhaps take chill pill?

Put it this way, Fallout 3 finally finished with Patch 1.7

In other words, this won't be the last time this game gets patched. First patches should always be Tech patches...

Can't tell of OP is serious or not.
If he is, lol. Tech issues are #1 priority. A toddler can figure this out. And these fixes are not "small", are you daft? These bugs are preventing people from playing their game. Smh.

Well, according to those on the PS3 section, who already have the patch...it actually adds additional issues, and doesn't even fully fix the issues it is set out to fix.

they seem like important things to fix and technically fixing the quest bugs will take longer because in fixing those that could cause other things to bug so they need to work all that out aswell

Good to see other people understand. :) all these type of thread's are just pointless, would be nice if people stop and think or even do a little research on google to understand this sort of thing. It's a large open game world, surely after Oblivion, Fallout 3 and NV people would realize this by now (unless this is your first Bethesda title then fair enough).

Even if something is "fixed" by a patch, if you are playing a save game that was already broken by the bug being fixed, there is a really good chance that you probably won't see anything changed by it. Your save game stores everything, so if they were having issues before they might very well be having those same issues. That is just something that comes from coding.

haha welcome to the few that take what ever comes their way and never expect anything. When the company knows most will just buy the game blind not expecting it finished lol. Fan or not its really ok to EXPECT a finished job. In times like we live now please don't just toss your money way. I will try the game next time before I buy.

Oh and most have no clue how long it takes..sorry programming basic .. just not the same.. end of line.

You obviously have never developed any kind of remotely complicated software before. Yes, 3 weeks is nothing for 15 technical fixes. I've got 40 hours in this game and have had 1 crash to desktop, and no broken quests. The game is probably the most stable out-of-the-box Bethesda release to date.

People obviously never played other Bethesda titles if they yappin about patch content this early. I looked up the patch notes for Fallout 3, Bethesda went the same route... TECH PATCH FIRST

Fallout 3 patch 1.0.0.15 is the first Fallout 3 patch released for the PC. It is a small fix, helping with some of the technical issues.
Bug fixesEdit

■ Fixed occasional crashes when exiting the game or using Alt F4 to exit.
■ Fixed crashes when using Alt-Tab while binks or credits were playing.
■ The game now restarts properly after title updates finish installing.

Fallout 3 patch 1.1 was released on December 15, 2008 for the PlayStation 3 and on January 13, 2009 for the Xbox 360 and PC. It updates Fallout 3 to version 1.1.0.35.
New featuresEdit
■ Trophy support.
■ Added ability to remap your VATS and pip boy buttons.
Bug fixesEdit
■ Friends notification no longer causes the game to pause.
■ Fixed occasional crashes during loading and waiting.
■ Friendly or neutral NPC health bars, when taking damage, no longer flicker repeatedly.
■ Fixed issue where certain NPCs would occasionally disappear from the game (Actually only partially fixed this issue as a number of NPCs, i.e. Lucky Harith, still disappear due to non-bug related matters).
■ Fixed issue where dead NPCs would occasionally come back to life.
■ Fixed rendering issue with the Gatling Laser gun's tracers.
■ Fixed issue where the haircut menu would occasionally not appear properly.
■ Fixed rare load/save issues that would cause NPCs to behave incorrectly.
■ Fixed issue where quest objectives would occasionally not update properly due to talking activators, intercoms and conversations.
■ Using Radaway from the Pip-Boy's Status Menu repeatedly no longer crashes the game.
■ Player no longer gets stuck in level up menu if their skills are maxed out.
■ Fixed issue where multiple followers would occasionally not load into an interior.
■ Fixed rare issue with getting stuck in VATS mode.
■ Fixed rare crash with fighting NPCs with corrupted data.
■ While using a 360 controller, the lockpick menu now rumbles properly.
■ Fixed rare crashes while loading and saving games.
■ Fixed rare issue where player would fall through the floor while in VATS.
■ Fixed issue where SLI mode was not properly detected with nvidia graphics cards.
■ The Mister Sandman perk no longer works with any children in the game.
■ Fixed occasional crash after scoring a critical hit in the head with a Railway Rifle.
■ Prevent NPCs from inadvertently dying from falling.
■ Fixed occasional issue where the controller would stop working properly.
■ Fixed crashes related to repeatedly equipping and dropping clothing and armor into the world.

Quest fixesEdit
■ Fixed several instances where quest item stayed in inventory permanently after completing quests.
■ Fixed an issue where the distress message would occasionally not play in Trouble on the Homefront.
■ In The Waters of Life quest, the Citadel gate will open properly if the player fast travels away after exiting the Taft Tunnels but before reaching the Citadel gate with Doctor Li.
■ For the Big Trouble in Big Town quest, the broken protectrons in Big Town become active at the proper time.
■ In The American Dream quest, fixed specific issue which prevented the player from accessing their belongings in the locker by the door if they left the room first.
■ Fixed infinite caps exploit in Strictly Business quest.
■ Fixed rare instance where Dad would have no valid dialogue during The Waters of Life quest.
■ Prevent issue during the Finding the Garden of Eden quest where player would fade to black, instead of Raven Rock, while in combat with a follower.
■ Fixed several XP speech exploits with certain NPCs. (Like the Bittercup and Pappy speech exploit in Big Town.)
■ Fixed XP exploit with a robot in Fort Bannister.
■ Fixed issue where player's controls can become locked permanently during The American Dream.

Fallout 3 patch 1.4 was released on March 2, 2009 for PC and Xbox 360 via Games for Windows Live and Xbox Live. On March the 3rd it could be downloaded from the official site.
It updates Fallout 3 to version 1.4.0.6.
The patch does not actually fix any known bugs. The only new features are:
■ New achievements for The Pitt
■ Support for multiple add-ons (Gamers in Asia can now play Operation: Anchorage, unlike before).

Fallout 3 patch 1.5 was released on April 19, 2009 for Xbox 360 and on April 28, 2009 for PC. It updates Fallout 3 to version 1.5.0.23 for Xbox 360 and version 1.5.0.22 for PC.
Contents
New featuresEdit
■ New achievements for Broken Steel

■ Fixed issue with companion NPCs not loading into cells immediately after player
■ Fixed the issue with the door in Vault 87 where Colonel Autumn came through.
■ Apparently fixed glitch where Fawkes and Charon could be in your party at the same time. This could have been fixed in 1.4. (Xbox 360, two cases)
■ Fixed a cosmetic bug that caused all the add-ons to vanish from the "Downloads" menu (Xbox 360). ■ New bugs introduced, check discussion page
Bugs Edit
■ Playing with mods that place new objects in the game may cause the game to crash. (This is fixed by converting the .esp files into a .esm through an application like Fallout Mod Manager)
■Saving the game with mods may cause the game to crash. (This too is fixed through the manner stated above)
■ It breaks Ignore Normal Resistance flags on weapons like the Deathclaw Gauntlet.

Fallout 3 patch 1.6 was released on June 22, 2009 for PC and on September 17, 2009 for PS3. It updates Fallout 3 to version 1.6.0.3 (PC) or 1.6.1 (PS3).
The update for PC can be acquired via Games for Windows Live or the official website.
Note: If you have downloaded any of the Add-On packs for Fallout 3, you must have Patch 1.6.1 installed for the Add-On to take effect.

and just as i had predicted. I told people this patch, if anything, would make the game WORSE!!! (more buggy/unstable). I think I have to go and get the 360 version now. Bethesda should be firing a few of their employees on the grounds of "complete stupidity" for not having worked out all these issues on the PS3 version before hand. I love Skyrim but, dislike with great intent, the LAG!!

Yes, this patch is useless.
Yes, beth is slow (as always).
Yes, the majority of bugs are actually easy to fix with an editor.
