NCR Ranger Veteran "Guns" Build

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 11:15 pm

Disappointed that you had to waste a perk slot on Jury Rigging so you could repair the Ranger Helmet? Well, there's a glitch you can use to get around that. You can now get Jury Rigging along with an extra perk or actually double the perks, but that's your choice. I chose not to (I only got the non combat related perks like "Junk Rounds") because that just tears to shreads the character specialization RPG element. It's no fun. So Im just gonna focus on what I've done here in building my character.

The Glitch

Here's a couple of videos that show you how to do the glitch. Dead Money DLC and Patch 1.02 required!

Note :grad:

When adding skill points remember that there are 5 skill books per stat (only 4 Wasteland Survival Guides) so leave space for at least 15 points or 20 if you get the Comprehension perk. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout:_New_Vegas_skill_books for locations.

Also worth remembering is that there is a number of practically weightless apparel that can add a significant number of points to your stats. Here's a list of the most useful ones:

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Vault_3_utility_jumpsuit Repair +5, Lockpick +5

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Followers_lab_coat Medicine +10, Science +10

http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Naughty_nightwear LK +1, Speech +10

Dont waste points!

NCR Ranger Veteran build

When building this character I had one thing in mind. How could I make this guy actually be capable of going toe to toe with my BoS Paladin "energy weapons" character and maybe even beat him 5/10 times? I didnt think it was possible for awhile but Im pretty sure I was wrong.

After putting a lot of thought into it, and extensively testing different perks and traits, Im pretty sure I ended up with the toughest possible Veteran Ranger. I knew I had to build him up differently than my Paladin because he's not gonna beat him at his own game (straight up blastin [censored]), so I focused more on his speed and stealth to a lesser extent.

Or, if you don't want to "waste" a perk slot on jury rigging, how about you take the item to an NPC who can repair items?

Groundbreaking, right?
