Energy Weapons early on? : Fallout: New Vegas

I decided to go with Energy Weapons over guns because of preference. I've just finished Goodsprings, and Chet had nothing but a Plasma Pistol and some ammo. I am now level 3, and I have no idea where to look. Any advice?

Eh, I should have been more specific, my bad. I have the laser pistol, but I'd like more so I can repair it and whatnot. I am not having any luck finding any energy cells either...

buy energy cells in bulk it'll be your main source of ammo early on.

buy the plasma pistol to deal with DT enemies

go to knight of the ncr so u can reapir your weapons!

profit!

I'll have to double-check, but I believe I found a Laser Rifle and Laser DRM or something like that near Goodsprings. o_o

[eta] Never mind... though, I do remember coming across those very weapons around Goodsprings. :/

think a lot of the items are randomized, first game i found a laser RCW in the prospector safe in goodspring, second game twas a .22 silenced.

I found a laser Rifle in bathtub in the Nipton house with a mr gutsy prototype, it is near the townhall

There is also another LR on the right side of Nipton near the campers.
