Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 1:30 pm

Alright so you know these guys?

I've completed the game on the Independent Vegas path and I seen these guys at the end but how do I get their BA looking outfits/armor? I am planning being full NCR this time.

Update the patch and one should be available at the NCR safehouse

Short of that you'll have to take one out yourself or reverse pickpocket them an armor with better DT and then steal the ranger armor from them.

Thanks and are there any specific ways to find them before the end at Hoover?

I think the wiki said level 16 at camp golf

Though I know I've seen a couple before level 16 but don't remember where. I'm thinking one of the ranger stations right near Hoover Dam

Forlorn Hope maybe?

I *think* it's Ranger Station Delta and I *think* there are rangers in there with Veteran Ranger armor (though I could be very wrong)

You'll have to find the little burnt out building and enter the basemant to find them

The rangers appear after you've completed Ring-a-ding-ding or slightly thereafter.

Well first off, the Vet Rangers don't start appearing until you finished the Boomer Quests. Once the ambassador tells you to go to Hoover Dam they start showing up ^_^

As to getting the armour you can still kill a Vet Ranger without gaining infamy with NCR or even have anyone attack you.

If you get a Anti-Material Rifle along with 50 incenidary (Both bought at Gun Runners) you can target the ranger (or anyone) in vats and then pull back out, when you pull back out they will spontaneously combust... Do that a few times till they burn to death. They won't even notice that their on fire XD

Or get a companion, Veronica is the easiest, and pickpocket a C4 onto her, then tell her to wait next to the ranger. Get to a safe position and press the detonator. Yay fireworks! You will have to do this twice as it only takes half their HP away. And Veronica will only go unconscious as you have her with you.

EDIT: Once you get asked to go to Hoover Dam the first 2 Rangers will show up at Ranger Station Delta

go to either camp echo or the camp near bravo or that hope ncr base. Place at least 2 c4 near a rangers feat and run far away. make sure ur companions are not with u. Then detonate the c4 and you should have no ncr infamy since they didnt see u. also, dressing as ncr or legion wen doing this and hiding is even better.

What? Never heard that one before, and never seen that in game before. They appear for me after dealing with Benny, or soon enough after that. They're at all Ranger stations, Forlorn Hope, and Camp Golf. At Forlorn Hope they each man their own sniper spot, so it's easy to sneak kill them there.

Umm well thats when they start showing up.How do I know that? Because I too was going after Vet Armour and I FT'd to the Ranger stations after every quest. 'AS SOON' as I finished Boomers they showed up.

That's how it rolled for me anyway

Them showing up depends on how far you are in the Main Questline, not your level. For NCR, you may have to wait until you are sent to Hoover Dam (latest), or even as soon as the Boomers mission (earliest). For Yes Man, I think you have to kill Mr. House and install him into the Lucky 38, but it may work by just completing any two missions. For the other two, I'm not sure, but try travelling to a Ranger Station or Camp Golf after each task completed for Caesar/Mr. House.

If you downloaded the latest patch all you have to do is become "Liked" by the NCR and James Hsu at Camp McCarran will give you a key to the Ranger Safehouse which has the Ranger Combat Armor and Helmet. That's one thing I just cant wrap my head around. Why did Obsidian make players have to kill a Ranger Vet without gaining NCR infamy to get this gear before the latest patch? Especially after whoring it everywhere they possibly could. It's like they forgot to include it in the game. How? Even now you cant get the helmet repaired unless you have the Jury Rigging perk or kill a Ranger Vet. And where is the built in night vision?

It is because the factions dont know who you are when wearing the disguise, so they think you are just another grunt.

Just don't do this on hardcoe mode unless you are tired of them tagging along.

You only become Neutral with the faction the armour belongs to. Like BoS Power armour makes you Neutral with the BoS.

I've yet to use this armor due to the fact that I read on the Fallout wikia that it's glitched. Apparently, according to the wikia, if you complete a quest that affects your reputation with any one faction while wearing this armor, your reputation with all factions will be reset to "neutral". Link and quote from article below.

■This armor has a faction bug. Whenever you gain fame or infamy while wearing this armor your normal reputation will be reset, leaving you with only the reputation you have just aquired. However, if you still want to wear the armor regardless of the risk here is what you have to do.

1.Save your game.
2.Whenever completing a mission for a particular faction DO NOT WEAR THIS armor. Switch back to a factionless armor when gaining fame or infamy so that you dont gain any reputation while wearing it.
3.Whenever fighting a faction, switch to factionless armor and when done switch back to it.
4.You may fight anyone with this armor that is not part of a faction (fiends).

■However; faction reputation may reset after long periods of time. This actually is incorrect in some cases, and only adds to your reputation while wearing the armor. Example, you could be idolized by NCR without the armor, but "liked" by them while wearing it.
