Alteration perk - Mage Armor

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 3:18 pm

Quick question here! The mage armor perk description says "protection spells like stoneflesh are 2x as strong if not wearing armor" By armor does it mean body armour or does that include bracers and boots? Any incite would be helpful!

anything that qualifies as "Light" or "Heavy", it shows up on the description of the item in your inventory, regular clothing doesn't count but certain mages masks do count as light armor which negates the perk.

If something says Light Armor or Heavy Armor in the item description, it is armor. Clothing does not count as armor.

I would like to know the answer to this as well. Along with the arch mage robe, I have some enchanted elven gauntlets that aid in archery. Does wearing these gauntlets make that "mage armor perk" useless??

The perks are a bit of a waste anyways since the highest level armor spell is not improved in any way by them.

Personally, I think it should be modded that the highest level flesh spell is comparable to Dragonhide (maybe not QUITE as good) with all the Mage Armor perks (by boosting Mage Armor, not the spell), to make Alteration comparable to the armor skills.

Maybe make it 2x, 3x, and 4x (and maybe an additional level for 5x) rather than 2x, 2.5x, and 3x

If it says Light Armor or Heavy armor then it cancels the alteration perk. Which kind of svcks in my end. I was rolling a pure mage...more like spellsword. And at the time the perk helped, until I found one of the Dragon Priest mask. It regenerates my magicka 100%. I was wondering why my stoneflesh wasn't working and found out the mask was light armor. I was royally pissed. Why are the Dragon Priest mask armored? Why couldn't they just be normal mask? Now I am fighting between taking it off to use my perk. Or keep it one because it is very very helpful because I cast such high cost magical spells.
