Atronachs make me sad

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 3:02 pm

Why don't Flame Atronachs cast Fireball or Incinerate? Why don't Frost Atronachs cast Frost Cloak or Ice Storm (Blizzard would be asking a bit much, but a lad can dream :sadvaultboy: )? I understand that the Flame Atronach is only an apprentice level spell, but it'd be nice if such buffs came with the perk that increases the power of summoned atronachs.

It would be cool, but that would require more depth.

Haven't you noticed that they actually do have an aura that sets nearby enemies on fire/freezes them?

Plus when a fire atronach dies it explodes.

Your post is lacking in depth.

Isn't it a little backwards to wait for your atronach to die for a decent attack? And only the Storm Atronach has an aura/cloak.

They all have auras.

They have decent attacks. Just because they don't have ranged AOE attacks doesn't mean they're not decent. NPCs, summons, and monsters don't use the same damage values as PC attacks. It may look like a firebolt. That doesn't mean it is.

Nope, each of the atronarchs has the respective aura.

And fire atronarchs deal good damage to dragons and are even smart enough to aim ahead to actually hit it while flying.

Orly? That, I did not know. Also, I was fairly certain that only the Storm Atronach did, but if you say so.

Yes, I noticed that :vaultboy:

I don't klnow about summoned ones, but all the Atronachs I've encountered as enemies definitely have their respective aura...
Fire Atronach explodes on death...Frost and Storm Atronachs also have an AoE attack

The Atronachs have definitely come handy in battles because of their Auras and attacks and I'm sure the better Atronach spells you receive the more you'll like them. I wasn't very fond of the fire one at first because it was slow, and didn't hold enough Agro but the frost is a great tank with a ground pound and nice frost/slow aura. Storm atronachs do amazing dps and move incredibly fast in combat and Dremora lords... ridiculous combination of frosts tanking and fires attribute on his sword.. Plus he talks crap to all opposition lol. So I loved them more and more as my conjuration level grew and I found the spells

I suppose I'm just kinda bummed that they don't have more aesthetically pleasing attacks; if indeed the Flame Atronach, for instance, does an attack that only looks like Firebolt but performs better, it'd be nice if something similar was done with, say, Wall of Flames or Fireball.

On that note, it'd be pretty cool if the atronachs left their respective Wall spells on the ground they tracked during combat when you upgrade them :flamethrower:

And once the Walls spells fade you can recover your follower's body

However It would be nice to see some variety in attacks.

Too bad for them; I can just use the Dead Thrall spell, I suppose...but that wouldn't be as good as a living Lydia.
