Anyone Expected More From Patch?

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 8:53 pm

Well... ive been waiting since yesterday morning, no sleep, for this patch, it comes out, i install it ferociously, install dx11 patch and hi res textures, boot up the game, fine performance nothing critical, but seriously? i see no REAL tesselation, the tess on the bricks on that screenshot crytek had looks like it was just mega overdone compared to these ingame, theres no reflections from what i can see, shadows look a bit better, and textures? they ramped up the textures on small objects, excluding the BINS, which still have the crummy low res texture on it! Plus alot of walls and surfaces still have the same texture, overall i couldnt really say the DX11 pack annd HRT pack was worth creating, it didnt test my system... and my gpu isnt even top of the line, if this is as cevat says "a peek into the next gen gaming" well then im not going to have to upgrade for a bit, AND, next gen gaming wont be "next gen" at all....

im appalled, i waited nearly 3 months i think its been now, for this patch.. and its let me, and my mate down who just purchased a gtx 460.. :(

I wonder how many of you agree?
Is this apalling for all the hype etc?

Any thoughts are welcome :)

Just a heads up...I think you're about to get flamed straight up your arse.

There are some notable improvements in the clearity of the textures, but those improvements are not all that obvious. I've restarted singleplayer and was at it for several hours, and I can just conclude right now that the graphics are slightly improved but not enough to turn this into a whole new game. Don't be too disappointed, at least Crytek had you all hyped and sleepless.

I never expected very much from this patch ever since they announced it in March, so I am not disappointed very much neither. This patch turned out to be pretty much exactly how I imagined it would be. What a surprise.

Thanks for the heads up,

and yes i agree the visuals improved, by only very very slightly, not enough for me to worth pointing out anything without looking stupid

ididnt say there was "no" improvement, i just said minimal noticeability..

plus this is my opinion, but i was probably expecting alot more too with all the "features they were adding" there in there, just not a whole lot visible if you know what i mean

But feel free to share opinions on what you think of the upgrade

This patch is miles better and even surpasses Crysis 1, POM looks better, lighting, shadows, water, particles. I'm not disappointed at all and it's was well worth the wait.

You need a GTX 480 Minimum to max this game out at 1080p now for 35 FPS. Your mate with the GTX 460 will struggle to run this game at even 1440x900 now. He should be complaining about how the game is too much for his rig, not it being too little.

If you wan't "real" tesselation be prepared to buy yourself a GTX 590 Quad SLI rig before asking for it. DirectX 11 is not child's play. Stop acting like it is.

The game plays acceptable at 1920x1080 on my GTX460 1GB. It's about the same level as Crysis Warhead in the frozen parts.

its not the fact whether i can run it maxed out or not, my mate unlike some of you guys, cant spend lots of money, so yeah, i got him a gtx 460 for 150 bucks australian, 1gb memory, idc if he can max it out or not, he just wants to be able to play crysis 2.

as for the gtx 480 being minimum, well why can i run it so damn well then? i dont notice "lag as such" and i have EVERYTHING MAXED OUT.

because i dont notice much of a difference, could someone please take the time to show me a nice big difference

- i already notice a difference on 'some' textures
- i see small amounts of tesselation
- water looks betterish

EDIT: and yeah, im asking for more implemented dx11, etc, idc if i need a 590,i know its not childs play, but its nice to have something demanding, someone has to start by leading the example right? and its usually crytek

It's just higher fidelity and much better than the crud we got on launch and much better than the console version. I don't expect the game world to look like 2002 but we know what is to blame for that.

true, i might have to give it another go through later

i was speaking to my mate though, who is in UK and he knows all about game implenting dx11 etc

and he said it couldve been done very well, but they just didnt want to push pc hardware like they did last time with crysis...

The textures are a really mixed bag. Some textures look better but some are still the same as before. Look at the road textures. All they did there was give the low res texture some hardware tessellation to bump it up a bit. It actually looks terrible. Same with some of the floor tiles in some areas. Same low res textures but tessellation to bump it all up. Looks incredibly cheesy. A lot of other textures were left unchanged too.

The water looks better. heh.

Overall, Crysis 1 still looks better.
