Killing Caesar on the "Render unto Caesar" Quest (sp

On the quest "Render unto Caesar", I noticed that there was a window of oppurtunity to "assasinate Caesar". So, I created an alt save to test it out. As soon as I got my weapons back in the platinum disk bunker entrance, I turned on the Legion guards, killed them, then proceded to clear out The Fort of any Legion with my trusty sniper rifle. I then proceded to Caesar's tent. I immediately exited the tent, luring the guards out and giving me more time to move around. The result was a ton of dead Legion, and one dead Caesar. So....here comes the svcky/confusion part. I would have assumed that the devs would have taken into account that it was possible to kill Caesar at this point. I mean you can loot "Caesar's armor". But, for some reason, there does not seem to be any dialog or scenario in the game to follow up the event...(Unless I am missing something?) I mean I just killed the NCR's no.1 bad guy Bid Laden style; and all I have been getting are random "Hey, that's the guy who killed Caesar!" from passers by. I decided to continue the game from that save file just to see if any other mention of the Caesar assasination would come up in any npc quest dialog. I was really hoping to get something from the NCR since I was already liked by them. Well, I ended up killing House, and continuing with Yes Man. My main intention was to ally and help the NCR, but after eventually saving the president and destroying the remnants of the Legion; I end up not only HAVING to kill all the NCR at the end of the game; but I don't even get a choice to NOT kill them (at the part where the General busts through the fence)...AND!! there is no mention of Caesar being dead anywhere...in ANY of the dialog along the way. This kinda svcks...or did I completely do everything wrong...?? Somehow I feel as if I missed something? FYI; This was the first time I played through the game.

Because if you side with Yes-Man, its not "Oh, I'll get these robots to work with someone", its "Vegas is mine!". If you want to help the NCR, go and speak to ambassador Crocker in the embassy on the strip.

Its because Caesar's death has little to effect on the battle. His top commander Lanius becomes the new Caesar should the original die, and Lanius is the one that commences the attack on the dam.

So any interaction with Yes Man will only help yourself?...dang. I thought he was needed to take over the system if Mr. House ever was eliminated. Yes Man even says something about using the chip to help the NCR. I guess I am going to go back to my other save and go speak to the ambassador. I still wish that killing Caesar opened up some quests/dialog.

Thats exactly what I thought to, I was all ready to turn over Vegas to the NCR at the end of the dam battle and next thing I know Oliver is sitting there with his guard ready to blow my head off. Basiclly like Saint said, its not "here's the city for you sir, all cleaned out of Legion scum and with these nice new robots to protect it" its more like "Vegas is mine [censored]es".

Yeah that's one thing that bugs me, the depth of choices to make isn't all that great. I'm sure the Securitrons would be a great addition to the NCR army (or even Legion) after they're upgraded and would certainly help with force projection were you able to decide that you want to help either of the other factions, but them's the brakes I guess.

Caesar dying doesn't change the end of the game because the Legate is the one who leads the attack on the damn. There are a few characters who will discuss it with you; like Boone, who if you bring him with you to kill Caesar will seem impressed and thank you. A couple other characters will make comments, and you can get some snarky banter at the end of the game with the Legate if you've killed Caesar. (For bonus points, wear Caesar's Armor when going to the Legate).

In the new DLC, the Burned Man, Joshua Gram has a unique dialogue option if you've killed Caesar, where he mulls over it then thanks you.

The "real" effect of killing Caesar is that regardless of the result of Hoover Dam, the Legion is going to fall apart, since anyone who paid attention to the story, or who knows anything about sociology/psychology knows that Caesar is essentially the only thing holding the Legion together, and that removing him basically like tearing the spine out of the Legion.
