Why do NPC's never sleep?

Post » Sun Dec 11, 2011 10:05 pm

So, every time I come into someones house (usually around midnight) to clear it of anything of value, the residents are standing right there, just waiting to tell me to get the hell out. This also happens with shopkeepers.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Is there a solution?

This is making Thieves Guild missions very frustrating, as I have to leave and come back if I am detected just once, and even if I manage to hide, they still chase after me even when the eye on the screen closes! :brokencomputer:

Also, I do not play on PC so I cannot use any console commands that would make NPC's go to sleep.

ive seen plenty of sleeping npc's

i did notice after 80 hours or so that the times npc's awoke and went to bed had deviated a few hours though, resulting in shops opening later etc.

It is weird. I sometimes just wait till 3AM. This usually works, but not always.

*I NEEDS THE SKOOOOOMMAAZZZZ!!!!* almost all residents of Skyrim feel this way apparently.

I've ran into this issue too...it seems they do not go to sleep at normal times. Usually early in the morning around 3 or 4 am

The reason I steal at night is because I thought that they would be sleeping. I'll try to steal at day, see if that works.

Innkeepers are hardy folk. They never sleep. I think that probably proves it.

The only NPCs I never see sleep are bandits and children.

I think there may be a relation in those two things...

They go to bed pretty late and don't sleep long. This was present in Oblivion, too.

NPC's do sleep, just not at the times you would expect them to.
