Stuttering after DX11 patch

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 2:02 am

So this morning as soon as I could I installed all of the updates for crysis 2. When I booted up the game to check performance, I was getting a measly 17 fps. After browsing the forums somebody mentioned that disabling vsync might help. I disabled it and immediately my fps shot up to about 30-40. The problem now is that gameplay is very stuttery. From my experience 40ish fps in this game is more than playable so I dont understand why everything is moving like a slideshow. I know I dont have the best videocard but I should be able to play the singleplayer smoothly? Or am I just expecting too much?

My specs are:
Amd 6970
core i7 930@3.6
6gb ddr3 1600 ram
1080p monitor

I run a HD 5770 and after the DX11 patch my FPS dropped significantly, To the point where it wasn't playable.

Go into Catalyst Control Centre and set Catalyst A.I. to "High Quality" and Tick the box "Enable Surface Format Optimization"

It's boosted my FPS from 15 to about 40 ( ish )

Let's hope that the next release of Drivers improves performance again, 11.6 is the current one.

*waits for 11.7 :P *

Part of the reason is because its pretty demanding. and a larger part is because its not optimized very well.

I agree, Hopefully the optimizations will come quick to give us DX11 users better performance and FPS out of Crysis 2 :)

IMO I think this patch is bollocks the way they implemented it, you either got to have all the demanding tessellation or none at all.

It would be better if you could vary the amount of tessellation with a slider or a choice of settings.

I am not aware of any other game that has that? although it would be a nice feature non the less. But again, wait for this game to be more optimized, it NEEDS it badly!

Not aware of a game myself but the heaven benchmark has different levels of tessellation.

If I don't install any of the packs but I have 1.9 will I still be affected by the issues?
