Extremely low performance, something must not be right !

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 2:22 am

Well here there are my specs

Core i7 2600k
8 gb of ram
GTX 580 1.5 GB
OCZ SSD

Resolution 1920x1080, everything maxed, NO "high res" pack

and the thing is that since the new patch and DX 11 package, i opened up crysis 2, and what do i get?, a wooping 24 FPS!!!?!?

But the funny thing is that i get 24 fps, in menu, in-game, while in combat, in pretty much everything, it drops to something like 23 fps sometimes, it hovers around 22-24, but it is as if it were somehow capped at 24 fps.

before this patch i used to have 60 fps as i have vsync on, really constantly, normaly the most it would drop was to something like 55 fps.

Now i know that 1 GTX 580 is not exactly a 3 way SLI GTX 590, But still i do believe a GTX 580 is quite a very powerful GPU and i think i shouldnt be getting this FPS at all. It is as if somehow something is capping it

your right something isn't right. The 1.9 DX11 HDtexture pack is not optimized very well.

24 FPS is very playable... Until a fix found, don't behave like you have 5 FPS!

WTF! 24 is good for a movie but terrible for a game.

This, I believe is v-sync issue. This post might have a possible fix... http://www.gamesas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=32846

I'm not going to assume that you're as dumb as me but for a few hours I was having a similar problem and it corrected itself when I set my overall graphics settings to extreme. I'm not sure if ultra was an option or not before this patch (don't think it was) but putting it back to extreme steadied out my FPS to around 34. Making the game much more playable.

thats my assumption aswell.

i was surprised when i saw the massive FPS drop with my high end system

oh and tried the same settings with my best friends two EVGA gtx 580 FTW HC2 aswell (awesome cards btw)
and the FPS wasnt that much better either in SLi

one way you can tell its an opptimization issue is when you look at you GPU usage and its really low along with your FPS. A good optimized game will only drop the GPU usage if its not needed, but when you are in a intence fire fight and you need as much GPU as possible and its at 20% like mine was. There is something wrong.

well the cores are running at 90-95% usage, before patch they were at 99% on all 4 GPU.

Dual 570GTX's in SLI
Intel Core2Quad Q9550 @4.1ghz
8gig DDR3

on ulltra im looking around 50fps
on extreme im right around 60 and up

relax fellas, itll get better. the game is scaling correctly in SLI, i have monitored the gpu usage. give Nvidia a week to see what they can squeeze outta the drivers first. but to me the new visuals kinda svck. they made a really fun game for the console users, too bad us high end PC users got the shaft

so i made some more testings in MP GPU usage wise

all 4 cores are working at a 78-98% jumping up and down, before it was almost all the time at 99%

im not that worried atm, i can play the game with DX11 on extreme, its enough for me and i think they will fix this someday so i can get the 99% of the cores just like before.

every new thing takes a while to be perfect

I have a GTX 260 and 6 GB RAM and 4X 2.67 GHz. I have everything on "High" plus High Res Texture Pack. I have 80 - 110 FPS (with my 120 Hz Monitor)... but if I set everything on Ultra, my fps drop to 30-50 as well. And I could use 1920x1080 resolution but a lower resolution is better in my opinion. Much more FPS and the graphics are also great.
