Well after all the massive hate against Crytek, and some may not be unfounded, I want to say that the DX11 patch seems like a great improvement and success to me. The FPS hit was noticeable, but it was to be expected and nonetheless for all the hate that goes towards this also being a console game, there is not doubt that the optimizations have truly helped them bring world class graphics to the masses and the optimizations have meant that the game is still playable with Mid-Range Hardware.

I thank you Crytek for enduring all the negative publicity due to the negative attitude of a minority of self-entitled whiners. I have enjoyed this game and have played through it a few times and will do so once again to look at the nice graphical improvements of DX11 Patch. Please keep regularly supporting this game, and I have no doubt that before long all will be silenced by the great quality work coming from your staff.

Well said. But you messed up on one part. You said this was a console game. It's not. It's a multiplatform game, made with PC in mind at first and console second :)

Crytek couldn't finish giving the PC the awesomeness like DX11 and such because EA wanted them to release it immediately (once the game was good enough for consoles that is). I like how Crytek is giving us the ability to make maps for single AND multiplayer (or so I have read).

I would be positive about this, but yet my positive feel about this has been striken down.

Mostly because I see a lot of non-DX11 based improvements, but yet those are restricted to DX11.
Which is quite understandably disappointing, as the game 'supposedly' looks amazing with the update.

That would've been nice and fine, but yet another disappointment strikes.

The high resolution texture pack is mysteriously very memory hungry, quite strange to think of it.
And so I've been disappointed twice with this update, because I can't use neither of them.

Not even POM, which was present in Crysis.

The editor will be a charm though, so thanks Crytek.

And I certainly hope that most of those effects will come to us, the poor souls that still have DX10(.1) cards.


So yes, I certainly do appreciate the work from the fellas at Crytek.
Though disappointed that I can't see it. (And hope that I can in the near future. :x)

crysis 2 is a very good game with exceptiona; graphics in DX9, and in DX11+Textures it is clearly the best and a fantastic game, with incredible graphics. yes thank you crytek.
