CryTek potentially reclaiming the graphics crown???

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 3:07 am

So, with the advent of DX11 and a sweet Ultra High texture pack up for downloads, and the fact that from other threads posted in gamesas, people have seen noticeable drops in FPS, which is to be expected.

This is Crysis of course you are talking about. Their first outing wasn't exactly easy-going either; you push it, it pushes you. You kick it hard in the nuts by ramping up graphical quality to Max Settings on the original game, it'll do back to you, by tenfold :)

Well, seeing as I own a s***y GTS 250 512MB GDDR3 GPU, I unfortunately can't use the upgrades in eye-candy. But I'm not too bothered (hopefully I will be able to get enough to build a decent DX11-based PC for this).

Battlefield 3 has a lot resting on its shoulders as being the rival to the crown for most punishing game of 2011.

post your thoughts below ;)

Don't worry GTS250 is still decent and you can still make Crysis 2 look good with it ;)

Punishing or not Crysis 2 is now the best looking game to date. DX11 and the textures added a look that is unmatched. the recommended specs are a bit overstated, it says 8GB of RAM and I only have 3 and I max it at 1680x1050 60+FPS always, thats a good thing. but the game looks super awesome.

Even without the patch and stuff I still think it's the best looking

yeah, you certainly could make a case for that. but the tesselation in the blown up street in downed bird looks like you could just jump in there and walk on it. playing on the hardest level now and the AI is schooling me.
