Crysis 2 DX 11 - Big Problems !!! [Must read the issues]

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 7:18 am

The problems are in the new Crysis 2 DX11 and high textures pack are:

-Slow performance under DX11 35-45 fps, even with powerfull rigs (PC's) (e.g. GTX580)
-From some users(including me) when DX11 is enabled the game starts to crash, and having black screens, on random intervals, the fix for this is to underclock your video card, witch is a bad thing, please fix this issue
-When shooting on objects the frame rate drops extremely low, 9-10 fps, and then quickly reaches 35-45 fps
-Even with High Res Textures DISABLED, the game still uses 1.2Gb VRAM(video memory)
-Even switched to very low settings, the game still uses 1.2Gb VRAM, that is very much amount of VRAM, this is a big issue, Cry Adam please fix this big issue
-I've discovered a nasty flickering, even on one video card.
-If i switch to DX9 only without DX11 pack and High Res pack, the game runs slower than the 1.8 version
-It seems that the ATI/AMD users are experiencing a better performance in the game.

PS: My hardware is capable to handle DX11 at full and High Res Textures, so it's not my rig.

Please fix this issues !!!!

Well effects like tesselation need a lot of hardware power. This is just like the first Crysis. When it was released few if anyone could properly run it.

And DX9 runs worse because they added several new effects there as well (SSDO and reflections)

Well when Crysis was released very few people had the systems to run it. People complained that Crysis 2 wasn't taxing their systems, now that it does require very high-end systems for the Ultra experience people are complaining that it is too demanding :D

As for the MP play, I haven't been playing so much in the last week or two because I am suffering from low FPS. I just popped into the Sith server to test the game since the 1.9 patch and it was very sluggish. I was getting around 20 FPS which is the poorest it's been since release. This is with settings all dialled back to 'Very High' and at 1600x900. I think my dual core is the main culprit here though I don't know why it should be worse since the latest patches.

That's the problem, you say that tessellation requires much hardware power, well you see, if i run the benchmarks with tessellation at extreme detail, i get better frame rate than crysis 2. We need also better drivers. Also it's a big difference between ultra and extreme settings ?

I already have a gtx570, i heard that people with 2600k and gtx580 having problems, so there is no purpose to buy a new system, i will stick with my i5 750 @ 3.8ghz, and 6 gigs or ram for now.

The strange thing is that i am not able to overclock my video card because the game crashes with black screen, and i know how to overclock a video card, this is not the problem.

And the strangest thing is even with dx11 and high res pack OF, the game still svcks the maximum amount of VRAM i have 1.2gb (restarted the game)

Reflections for DX9
Maybe they did, but without DX11 - they aren't going to give it to you.

As for the memory, it's something fishy about the 1.9 patch.

Because before, the game used around 300 MB of VRAM for me.
Now it's always hanging around 967 MB.

But all those benchmarks do is test polygon count. They don't have physics engines, AI, live texture streaming, gunfire, etc. running alongside them. Not to mention they lack good lighting systems like Crysis 2 and other effects. all they do is test tesselation power. Once you add numerous effects togerther along with tesselation, it will hit your hardware.

When all of your processing power is being dedicated to tesselarion, of course it will perform better.

Again, DX11 effects only work on Ultra settings, not Extreme.

Lol, only at ultra, how do you know ?

If the game still plays slow on a gtx570, what other graphics card i can get to run little better ? :)))

I think i need to wait to the next 600 series of nvidia, to play properly. And it's not my cpu problem, i have a friend with a 2500k @ 4.5ghz and same video card, and his having same performance...

EDIT: So if i turn a little down the post processing i will get a much better fps, in other words witch setting is eating more fps in the advanced graphics options ?
