No way to "rotate" items "grabbed" infuriate

Let me start by telling a little story about what happened to me today.

I like to organize my house, keep everything tidy, move a few things here and there, but due to some glitch, everything ended up on the floor, and reloading to a previous save didn't fix this,no big deal right?

So I decide to spend my time picking everything off the floor and start my adventure placing everything back. Cups, pots, mead, plates, potions, food, etc.

My first task was placing a pot that had tilted over to stand straight up,and this produced the most gruesome......stressful 10 minutes of my life. In concept,it seems pretty easy, just grab it and place it back on the floor right? Nope,no matter how much I tried,it would never stay straight, every single time it would fall because I can't control the position its in. It boggled my mind why we couldn't rotate items we grabbed on their x and y axis. I had to try these [censored] "strategies" to sort of "force" the item into moving into a straight position.

The first one I like to call is the "Push it against something until it straightens out"
The problem with this is its extremely unpredictable,I had to run against a wall while holding the pot and "push" it against certain edges and corners of tables to sort of straighten it. After 10mins of doing that and trying over and over,I finally,FINALLY,did it.

......only 50 more plates, pots, and cups to go! FML

We "NEED" a way to rotate items via their x-axis/y-axis! If not, give us an option to use the Morrowind placing method, that was REALLY convenient. Would this be possible with a mod? Or any type of fix?

In-case people dont understand what I mean, think of placing down objects in Forge mode of Halo Reach. It allows us to rotate and move the item in any axis we please. Surely it wouldn't be that hard to do.
