Random exploring, may cause problems

I just wish Quest Items wouldn't weigh anything and be under a special tab "Quest Items". That would have been awesome ^^

They don't weigh anything. I've tested it. Unless they gain weight AFTER a quest and aren't droppable/etc., in which case that svcks [censored].

But I would like to see quest items under a quest tab too.

On PS3 you can. Is it a bug on xbox or something?

Exactly why PS3 Dominates Xbox in Skyrim.

Also agree on quest journal. Really underwhelming. I thought it'd be nice to play without quest hand-holders/baby mode, but the context of many quests don't provide enough information to figure anything out on your own unless there is a giant arrow saying GO HERE, STUPID. Of course, who is ever going to turn off quest helpers on the 360? (Because you can't...)

Well, as XB360 user, I can turn markers off (and always do), so how about you deselect the quests.

Then there's the fact that not only can you not drop the items, but the items have weight too! This damn elder scroll is taking up 20lbs of inventory space from me!

You can sell the scroll to a certain guy in the game. I do not want to spoil anything further. Not sure if I am allowed :P But you can get rid of it ^^

You can drop certain quest items that are normal loot (such as gems, etc.) for Fetch quests but I have a Misc. quest to collect some stuff for a traveling Khajiit, and I fear that he's actually dead.

You can also complete misc quests "incorrectly" and they won't update. Like a certain Amulet of Talos procurement for someone in Solitude which seems quite glitched, because I apparently acquired it the "wrong" way.

Well, when the CK comes out, you can disable the quest items (monsters too), unless the quest is active. That way you can explore as much as you want without killing quests. Or you can wait for Bethesda to do it. :banghead:

I made a topic for fixing the quests for certain quest items:

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1296124-placeholder-bug-fix-found-quest-items-before-the-quest-itself-read-on/

Well, this work around, worked for me.

I was able drop the Quest Item from my inventory.
As soon as I picked it up, The Quest update message appeared,
and I was able to finish the quest.

Concerning the other quest that cannot be activated;
"Talk to "So-an-So" (I figured this NPC died) *shrug*

I used the console command
place.playeratme NPC-BaseID

And Voila, the NPC spawned in front of me at the Whiterun Stables,
and started heading down to the roadways.
I'm guessing he was heading back to his town.

I talked to him, and the Quest was updated.

I guess NPC's will die from time to time, mid-quest, but maybe the
Quest Journal should reflect this somehow.
Maybe an option to Remove the Quest.

Anyways, nice workaround.
Console players will still have these issues though, since no access to the cmd line.

There is a quest in whiterun, the girl by the blacksmith. That quest includes a steel sword as far as I am consurned. You could give it a try :)

It was the Dragon Tablet, wasn't it? The one the Whiterun Jarl's mage (Farhndal Secret-Fire or something) asks you to get?

Yes, that's one of my favorite exchanges in the game:

"I need you to go off into almost-certain death in order to search for a legendary stone which may or may not even exist!"
"What? You mean this old rock I picked up on the way here?"
