Mining is MESSED UP!

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 4:54 am

When you ''activate'' the mine, you get 2 ores (1 ore in first 3 hits, and 1 in last 3 hits)
But when you ''attack'' the mine, you always get 1 ore! (in the first 3 hits, nothing after that)

This is not cool!

Hmmm if I mine the normal way, sometimes I get gems.

Can attacking the mine give you gems?

You get 3 ores when auto-mining. The second one is just not displayed.

I dunno what's with attack-mining but I don't care. Why would you do that anyway.

True. Attacking it makes no sense.

I've gotten gems by "attack mining." And I do it just for the sake of doing something different. I get a little tired of the animation and, since I can't skip it, this makes me feel better (even if it doesn't take any less time).

They yield the same results.
Swing your weapon you get 3 ore and possibly gems.
'Use' the mine and you get 3 ore and possibly gems.
The notification merely doesn't show everything in both cases.

ATTENTION OP IS WRONG
ATTENTION OP IS WRONG

Mines can gives between 1-3 ores. Attacking it rarely, if ever, shows you got more than one ore on screen, however, if you bothered to check your inventory (you didnt) you'd see more than one ore added.

You are welcome.

When I attack, I get the same amount of ore. However, it only says I got 1 in the top left where it says what you've obtained.

Don't go by the text in the top left of the screen; it's incredibly slow and sometimes things get truncated.

Hell, there are times when I've finished a quest and got money and an item in return, and didn't get any "item obtained" text at all!

This isn't true on PC, not for me anyway.
On my recently started Orc character I've been to lots of mines and used "attack" all the time.
From a gold mine with about 10-12 veins I walked out with over 30-35 gold ores. Same result from other mines.

Now that I think about it you don't appear to get gems this way so I might have to mine the time-consuming way from now on >_<

Nothing, at all, is different between slow mining and attack mining. Nothing. NOTHING.

I ALWAYS get two using the pick axe (the only way I've ever mined). About 25% of the time I'll get a gem also. I've checked this when I go back to smelt ingots. It's always the same. (PC).

Mines are sensitive creatures. When they feel afraid they dump ores. Like a calamary sprays ink. Seems logical. :P

Lol, yeah I feel the same. I ran past like 10 ore deposits and cursed myself for not bringing a pick axe every time. Now I'll be mining with my greatsword!
