New to PC need help with game.

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 2:27 am

I just purchased a new m14x alienware laptop, and I am having trouble killing enemies in the game. I am using a controller because I figured it would be easier to transition from xbox360. I need to know if it is easier to use a mouse or controller in a gun fight. I also need to know what is the best setup for a noob. I'm really good at fps on the console so this is really bugging me, also I don't know how to put my setting at the highest they can go. So any tips would be great.

Mouse and keyboard is much more accurate and responsive than a gamepad once you can fully adapt to it. ;)

Also, you shouldn't have gone with an aliemware laptop... Alienware's are overpriced, underperform, and laptops in general just simply don't have the computing power necessary for a top notch gaming experience.

I used to have an alienware and they don't quite deserve the bad rep the PC community gives them, I find they can perform pretty well. But I'd recommend getting used to using a mouse and keyboard. You'll find M&K is much more accurate once you get used to it. If you want to put the settings as high as they can go, just go into graphics or advanced graphics and set everything to extreme or ultra.

yeah Alienware's rep is a bit too harsh, they are overpriced a bit and their customer service isn't fantasic, but generally their hardware is good and if looks correlated with performance, they would be some of the best laptops. Too bad it doesn't.

I transitioned so long ago, mouse and keyboard is vastly superior, though you might have to adjust dpi levels and sensitivity if you are new to using a mouse. Your hands will get used to using WASD fairly fast, then with practice the other game specific keys will become easier. If you are having trouble hitting certain keys in a fast fight, you might have to move them to be closer to your hands around WASD. I suggest moving the melee key and maybe nanovision if you use it a lot.

console FPS game usually implements "aiming assistance" or lower enemy response time which is totally different from pc FPS.

if you stick to controller on pc, your performance will be no match for an ordinary pc gamer using ordinary mouse/keyboard in mp

Isn't optimum dpi for games around 400ish, and dpi only matters on desktop use??? I think the only thing usable with a gaming mouse is the xtra buttons if you need em.

Lets put it this way - if you'r bad at the game- blame it on your poor logitech mouse. Its the dpi's fault.
