Reseting Perks!

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 6:03 am

Since it can be abused I'm against it.
Besides, it's an RPG, deal with your mistakes.
And if you want to try out a different type of character then start a new one.

So what, if someone wants to do something in thier own game how exactly does that hurt you?

Is there some secret society I know nothing about that has a skryim leader board?

Hey everyone, first time posting, loving the forums!

As far as I know and have researched there isnt a way to reset your perks on the consoles.... I REALLY think they should insert someone that can allow you to RESET YOUR PERKS! Like put an update for an NPC in Winterhold's Mage College in the courtyard or something. I would gladly pay for the update! Like 450 Microsoft points and then even make it to where I would have to pay the mage 1000 Gold or so everytime I want to do my perks. I just dont think its cool AT ALL that right now I am doing a Thief but if I would like to go Mage, I would want to be able to use the Mage Perks... I just dont want to have to play the WHOLE game over with a different Character just so that I can use all the good Mage Perks. Because lets be honest, the PC players get to do WHATEVER they want while us console players kind of get the shaft. Now I dont want to be able to cheat and get gold and whatever, cause honestly it ruins the game for me if I am able to cheat, hence why I REFUSE to buy games like these on PC because I WOULD cheat and then stop playing lol. ALL I want is the ability to reset my perks! That is it!! PLEASE! Lol! Thanks for listening to my "rant" lol.

Anyone AT Bethesda actually reads these?

Agree.~, but not exactly something that allow us to change it all the time.
IMO the game could very well at the least include a kind of quest we can do where the reward could be a one time perk reset feature!

It's funny going into threads seeing mass amount of people telling others to control themselves on not mixing Smithing/Enchanting/Alchemy, but here people supporting the restriction on not allowing to reperk, because it would be unfair and broken. (Suddenly self control doesn't come into play anymore!)

I know not everyone is one beehive entity here, but Lol.

For me, this is one of the best parts of the Elder Scrolls games. But so be it ... everyone has different tastes, as the old lady said when she kissed the cow.

Amen! Its MY game, who cares!!!

if I was playing an online game, MMO RPG, then yeah I could understand the how unfair that COULD be... oh but wait, in WoW your able to do it all the time and guess what it costs money and no one has problems with it there and MILLIONS of people play that one, That game seems to be doing just fine. And you say "Since it can be abused im against it." HAHA REALLY!?!?!? TONS of things in this game can be abused and I am SURE you have done at least one of them. Heres a few things im sure you and most have done that is FAR worse on "abuse".

1. Standing behind an object so the creature you fight gets caught while you shoot arrows or blast magic at it
2. climbed a mountain... WITH A HORSE. By jumping at mountains and most walls that arent straight up, you can climb them.
3. Jumping from as high as you want and as long as you land in water to where you can swim, you live (not a huge one but still abuse)

etc.

This is how I picture you talking when I read your post.

OP I feel ya.

The only thing that I think should be different about that is maybe instead of refunding ALL your perk points the mages could choose a path you've chosen and wipe it clean, as well as the amount of total leveling that is required for resetting those perks.... This way you'd have to re-level a little bit to get back the perk points you had erased from your memory.

That's a bit better than just having them say "Here's your points back, have a nice day!"

Honestly, whats the difference if you can do it all or not. Its a single player game. Thats my point.

No. You aren't the only one wanting this and get this:

Choices have consequences. Just re-roll another character. If anyone could switch their entire character to something else on the fly, there is no point in the levelling system/mechanic and plethora of other things. I know it's singleplayer but this is a RPG and embrace the mentality you cannot have it all.

This.

The game is dumbed down as it is.
No need to dumb it down even more.

I personally think that removal of birth signs is also wrong and that guardian stones should be removed and birth signs returned.

I was about to post the same thing. :)

Anyways on the choices consequences front. If the perks were well described, if the mechanics were well described people might have a point.(though I really don't see how this would effect their game) As is for a lot of perk trees you are not making choices you are randomly hitting keys and having to live with it.

How many people knew that the mage armor perks would not work with the master level armor spell and that the lesser armor spells with the perks would be vastly less protective than the master spell?

How many people knew when they took the increase magicka regen perks in restoration that in combat regen was slowed to the point that these perks were borderline useless?

How many people knew/know that the axe perks are a 1-3 damage dot that lasts for 3-6 seconds? And if you knew bleeding effects svcked that bad would you have taken them?

And I am sure there are plenty of other perks that you find out later svck because the mechanics are never really described to you especially with how fast you can level in this game.

Informed choices should have consequences, you rarely get an informed choice in this games perk trees.

I absolutly don't want a reset button. I am often compelled to make the perfect character...i can usually fight the urge but if given the reset button I would only play one character ever.

Playing through the game as a stealth melee is completely different then hunter, caster, warrior. ect.
