Amazing particle effects DX11

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 11:09 am

Anyone else notice when you shoot a piece of concrete or brick the particles scatter and have dust trails behind them? It looks really good in my opinion. The only thing I find odd with the update is my framerate plummets in the the sewer drains. I find that odd because of the small area. It may be the water that's doing it, I dunno. Getting ready to play with sandbox 3 tomorrow.

This seems more like a facebook/twitter update than a forum thread to be honest.

I'm not surprised that a dolt like you doesn't know the difference between a social networking site and a game forum. Move along troll.

the particles are amazing! they just need to be reoptimized. There is no way dual 6990s & a 990x 4.5ghz should struggle with this game.

Yes I like the particle effects as well, and yes I am having bad performance in the sewers as well, I highly believe it's something with the water.

I thought on some comps 6990 + 6970 (trifire) worked better than 6990 x 2 (quad fire).

Thats an insane computer though, 990x + dual 6990s. Thats like if I borrowed my workplace's cluster mainframe to play crysis 2 (they said no, supported apps only).

yea there are a lot of games were trifire is better than quadfire, but we got better fps with quad in C2. besides a large majoirty of games dont even support quadfire.

The cards have to be the same.

with xfire that is not the case, only sli.

you can mix any 69xx card with each other. so 6970 can xfire with a 6950, or 6950 with 6990. same with the 68xx series.

It's because of tesselation. Whole sewer is tesselated all over, so theres pretty much nothing more for GPU render but tesselation. I tried it out by reducind tesselation amount via CCC to 4x and performance was back. Performance is worst in the last two levels of game which uses terrible amount of tesselation. It brings my 6970 to 12-20 FPS on 50% of time when game is all maxed out.
