Sky Texture Replacements + Weather Mods. Compatible?

Post » Fri Oct 16, 2009 5:19 pm

Just a quick question that I have been unable to find anywhere. With my new rig I am looking for any ways possible to improve any visual aspects of Oblivion, so I was wondering the same exact thing as the title states.

Are sky texture replacers compatible with All Natural? (Using EW + NW plugin,) or maybe they are simply not needed as EW and/or NW already replace sky textures?

Thanks

Heh heh, thank you. Couldn't find such a simple answer anywhere but was determined to get the max visual quality!

They are compatible and they are needed, actually, not to be contradictory. The EW+NW (and all the other plugins like it) are in additional to vanilla weather types. This means you will still see vanilla weather.

I personally use a vanilla weather texture replacer (Improved Sky Textures) along with All Natural.

I'll update the All Natural readme to make this clearer for next release.

Actually the readme already has information on sky/nebula/star textures in it. Though I guess a blurb about vanilla sky stuff wouldn't hurt.

You is quick Arthmoor! Yeah, it has info about it sort of, but it technically never says you should still use a vanilla sky texture replacer. That should be added to the compatibility section plus add "Your favorite vanilla weather texture replacer" under Recommended Mods I think.

I'm confused. If I use All Natural, what should I do to get really good looking skies?

Install All Natural like always.

Then install http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=7694.

Nothing will conflict or overlap.

And read the readme for All Natural, particularly the section about recommended mods:

Animated Window Lighting System and Chimneys (for exterior windows lighting)
Storms & Sound (for more interior weather sounds and exterior lightning strikes)
Rainbows in Tamriel v3 (because it's pretty and works perfectly with All Natural)
Natural Habitat ONLY from Natural Environments mod
Enhanced Vegetation (superior to Natural Vegetation)
Any water mod such as Enhanced Water, Natural Water, Phinix Waterfix
Your favorite nebula sky texture mod
Your favorite star texture mod
Your favorite sun/sunglare replacement mod

Please note: All Natural DOES NOT INCLUDE any night sky/stars/sun replacement textures. Therefore, you can use your favorite night sky, stars, and sun replacement mods just fine with All Natural. Simply install them in the regular place as their instructions should indicate. Brumbek shamelessly suggests you try his sky texture pack.

Gravy, thanks. You didn't need to suggest it, I've already set it up for my next Oblivion install (your sky pack that is :P)

That would be great! I was a little confused by that part, so chose not to risk it and not install any, but now I know.

Thank you!
