I'm not sure about something I was hoping someone could clear up, as it's not clear from UESP etc.

Does magicka absorb also stop that magicka from damaging you, or does it just replenish your magicka pool.

For instance, assuming you have 30% magicka absorb, I appreciate that a 100 spell would replenish your pool by 30 points, but would the damage received from the spell be 70, or still be 100.

neither is correct.

absorb is a % chance to absorb a spell COMPLETELY. e.g. you dont get any damage AND you get the spells dmg as mana back.

I believe this is correct as well. I use the atronach stone that gives you the passive magicka absorb and increased magicka pool and it seems to absorb the entirety of spells from casters quite often as I sprint up and chop their faces off. Using the atronach stone seems a little bit overpowered to me though as I can constantly use restoration to keep my health high and to restore stamina with the perk during melee combat if I just back off a bit and I haven't put any points into magicka. I only buff my equipment with enchants and use the atronach stone and I never run of out magicka.

Edit: I also think it does work against shouts because the draugr deathlords are often trying to shout me back to no avail!
