To those with the resistance bug...

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 12:16 am

I am not entirely sure that it's truly bugged...

However, seeing that I have already taken precautions and will not be getting this patch due to the issues already revealed, I cannot test.

I've noticed that the Talos Shrine lists that it reduces voice cooldown by 0%. However, in reality, it actually does reduce it by 20%, confirmable via the PC console command "player.getav shoutrecoverymult", and noting that the value is <1 when blessed by Talos and/or wearing Talos's amulet.

I think there's a way that even a console player can test to see if it's truly broken, however: summons.

Conjure up a flame atronach, then attack it with a magical flame attack. Or a frost, or storm atro. Atronachs have complete immunity to elemental damage matching whatever their element is. Enchanted weapons are not advised, since it does mundane damage as well, not pure flame damage If it is harmed... then it truly is bugged.

If not, then it's just a label problem.

Now, backwards dragons are a different issue...

Apparently, it's confirmed on the resistence bug. Someones posted that they can now kill antronachs with attacks that they should be immune to. ie: Fire antronachs can be killed with fire.

Or you could conjure a flame atronach in the atronach forge below the College of Winterhold if you dont play on PC.

Video would be nice.

And wouldn't it also make npc's easier to kill?

And yes, NPC suffer from it too. If you gave Lydia some awesome armor with 100% Frost/Fire/Ice resistance she is now at 0% Resistance.

I hear both resistances and weaknesses are negated, so for instance Trolls and Vampires don't have a weakness to fire anymore.

I hope they pull the PC patch. Having zero resistances is going to have a major impact on game play. Hell, my pets just became a whole lot weaker -- no more Frost Atronauch plus Ice Storm. Enemy Magi are going to be a nightmare to take down. Dragons will be death on wings.

This is a major major balls up and I hope they fix it fast.

That makes no sense... If they have 0 resistance then everything is a weakness.

Apparently they recalled the 1.2 patch.

The resistance actor value, if it goes negative, actually amplifies damage.

Vampires have a FireResist actor value of -50, and thus get extra damage from fire attacks.

... Or they did before the patch broke everything involving resistances and weaknesses.
