The Lioness ate my Prawn!

Post » Mon Dec 12, 2011 3:32 pm

So my amoral Thief character has been hanging out in Riften, doing a few jobs for the thieves guild, clearing out nearby bandits and whatnot for their bounties. So one evening while Im standing at the forge, selling off extra gear and dumping a few things I dont need. I notice that my companion has been carrying a 'Belted Tunic' around for awhile. I take the worthless garment from him and dispose of it by dropping it into the forge. Then I go back to my sorting/selling/forging. All of a sudden I hear the warrior woman Lioness say "Hey who dropped that!??!" and the owner of the Pawned Prawn responds with "Hands off! Its mine!" Their threats quickly escalate and before I know whats happening a knife fight has broken out with the locals gathering to watch.

Just when it looks like the shopkeepers got the warrior on the ropes, she switches to her 2-hander and sends him sailing through the air with a mighty blow. He flies over the forge and ends up with his feet in the fire and his head in the ground. He was extremely dead.

All this over a belted tunic worth only 2 septims??? And from the so-called Protector of Riften as well. In the end she didnt even pick up the tunic because she couldnt find a way to climb onto the forge...

Now Ive lost access to a useful pawn shop... Kinda svcks but the altercation was so amusing that I decided to leave it in my saved game.

Anyone else have this happen? What sort of worthless junk did you get the npcs to murder eachother over?

Haha, I've had no such experiences. Whenever I drop stuff, a noble person will pick it up and ask if I wanted it, I'll respond with a " nope, all yours! " and then it's not long before the same person comes over and asks if I want it, and he/she will continue to do so until I do one of the following things:

1) Leave now, and never come back! - Golem - Neutral Option

2) Thank the noble NPC and take my item back. - Paragon Option

3) Zap the NPC into dust for wasting my valuable time. - Renegade Option

Although, after reading about a lot of the things that people say happen, I really do feel like I should take a moment to stop my adventures, head to a nearby town - I'm thinking Whiterun or Solitude - and observe / manipulate the AI a little.

I dropped a plate in front of my home in Whiterun. The little smart alec girl picked it up and said I dropped something. I did nothing and it was back in my inventory.

Ive had bandits do this to me while I was sneaking around their caves, assassinating their buddies. Some bandit woman helpfully ran up to me to return the pair of old boots I had just thrown away. She was very polite and helpful. Until she had finished returning it then she went back to trying to murder me. heh.

Not too many stories of Npcs killing eachother in the replies though... Guess I was just "Lucky"?

Do you mean the shop keeper's body? I probably could have but it landed in such a funny position that I figured I'd just leave him that way. Besides he was already dead.

I did take the time to loot his corpse though heh
